The fact of weather or not Gordo was messed up when he wrote that is debatable. The alternative definition of "Opiate" is: extreme dull relaxation. The chorus has some sublitinal referance to being to lazy to maintain a friendship. That's one thing about Gord's lyrics, they can be applied on several different levels. No doubt that this song is a gooder.
