This song is about a drinking problem that Brock, the singer, used to have. It's about looking back at the problem, and how he is glad he's gotten over it.

yeah maybe, but to me it can be about anything that you wish you hadn't had a hand in. drugs or just selfishness but i like how there seems to be hope for redemption

Hm. I always thought there was another person involved. Deffinitely has to do with a past drinking problem... but there still seems to be more to it.

I agree with cloudunder. Maybe he's had a drink problem and connected to that he has killed someone or seriously hurt someone and he is looking back on it horrified.
