This song seems to be about abortion. its pretty straightfoward if you read the lyrics, especially the line "This reception died in vain". in any event, its an amazing song

It seems to me to be about a car accident or something, where the speaker's survived but the other person in the car died, and the guy is in the hospital and in denial and refusing to accept it. But I don't know.

I reckon it's about someone waking up in hospital (car accident?)and being someone completely different, like coming out of a coma. The guy feels trapped in time waiting for "your return". I can't really figure out the end bit. I thought this idea made sense as a follow on from You Know Whos Seatbelt and explains the order on the CD

i think he's using the car wreck as a metaphor for a breakup. instead of trying to forget it, all the stuff about morphine and anesthesia, he's happier being in pain and thinking about the past, when he throws himself into his injuries. 1

Well this definately follows up on dale earnhearts Seatbelt, and then the guy wakes up in the hospital the next morning. And Im thinking that he dreams/ remembers his wife or someone close to him waking him up softly in the morning. He opens his eyes to find that he's in this empty desolate room, I think there is probably reason to believe that the mother was killed in the accident... theres no telling. But when they say "I will wait for you" and "A jealous daughter starves to death for the mother" It seems like they are both waiting for "the mother" to come even though she wont come.

Reckon it follows on from dale earhardts seat belt - some one wakes up in hospital and is a different person, but i'm just guessing!
