to all Donnie Darko fans, and also fans of this song, you will be dissapointed when you see that in the Directo's Cut of the film, they changed this song (which by the way, could not have been a more perfect song for that scene "killing time" frank's car, etc) fro INXS' Never Tear Us Apart I love that song too, but Killing Moon fit much better into the whole vibe of the scene 1 2 3 Next

I am an advocate to LET PEOPLE EXPRESS their ideas about the song. If taylor thinks the song means that to him, then it does. You have to accept that not everyone thinks the same way. I think the song is about temptation, and taking paths in life that you know are bad but you do anyway. Its like relaxing into sin..

I believe the song is about a cheating girl. Here me out as I reference to certain parts of the song that clue into this. The singer is not the one being cheated, he is actually the cheating girlfriends new desire. The singer shows sympathy for the guy being cheated upon as it appears he is reluctant to give into the girl's desire of lust for him. The girls current boyfriend is probably friends with the singer and that is why he shys away,"too late to beg you or cancel it though I know it must be the killing time unwillingly mine" that sums up that he tries not to fulfiill the girl's desire but realizes he is powerless to her seduction and thus kills the heart of his friend. Another powerful line is "Fate up against your will " that is him giving in as it appears fate had destined and he couldn't resist the girl no matter what. Then the guy friend is acquired by the line "he will wait until you give yourself to him", I percieve that as the guy friend who will wait until the girl runs back to him and she is his. Or possibly the guy in the background isn't even involved with the girl and he only has a deep crush for her and his friend the singer know this and is reluctant about giving in to her temptations. So the only thing being killed in this song is the heart of the friend. Thats my take on it.

this song is really great for the opening scene of Donnie darko ( one of my favorit movie's) really great song. but it has somthing to do with love ..like 90% of all songs.
