| you're too important for anyone you play the role of all you long to be but i, i know who you really are you're the one who cries when you're alone but where will you go with no one left to save you from yourself? you can't escape you can't escape there is a person. this person is a loner, he doesnt interact with others... making them feel he thinks he is higher than they. he supposedly has no problems, but when he is alone, he cannot escape himself and his thoughts, so to speak... no one is left to stop him. you think that i can't see right through your eyes scared to death to face reality no one seems to hear your hidden cries you'll have to face yourself alone this person... he feels that no one will ever understand him, but it is in his eyes... no one ever really looks at him, so they dont see. but the narrator, they do, and they see the helpless side of him. but he feels no one can see or hear his silent pleading for help, so he has to go through everything alone again. but where will you go with no one left to save you from yourself? you can't escape the truth i realize you're afraid but you can't abandon everyone you can't escape you don't want to escape again, he does not know where to turn when hes alone, but he cannot escape the truth. he is afraid, but the narrator feels that he shouldnt just leave everyone alone if he feels like that. but it is like the person does not want to lose this feeling. i am so sick of speaking words that no one understands is it clear enough that you can't live your whole life all alone i can hear you in a whisper but you can't even hear me screaming i think this is the person speaking. he wants people to finally understand him, and he does not want to spend the rest of his life all alone. he realizes that anyone he is close to, he helps without a thought, but those people, he realized, were using him. thats my two cents. | |

| I love this song, my favourite part of this song is: "now i will tell you what i've done for you fifty thousand tears i've cried screaming deceiving and bleeding for you and you still won't hear me don't want your hand this time i'll save myself maybe i'll wake up for once not tormented daily defeated by you just when i thought i'd reached the bottom i'm dying again " I don't know why but I almost get angry when Amy sings this part. Ah well who cares, I just wanna say that this song is my third favourite song (My Immortal and Taking Over Me are my favourits) And if you don't have their CD...then GET IT QUICK 'cause there isn't one song on the CD that isn't good, Evanescence RULES | |

| This is one of my favorite Evanescence songs, and more than any other song, it was the reason I became a fan of the band. One thing I like about the song is the shift from the angry verses to the beautiful-yet-hard chorus. Amy has one of the best voices in music today - heck, she has one of the best voices in music ever. I can listen to this over and over and never get tired of it. | |

| I see this song as being about unrequited love. The "narrator" has been strung along by someone who doesn't love her, but is amused by playing with her emotions. She has finally realized what is going on and is telling the guy that although she's been through hell for him, she won't tolerate being used anymore. | |

| This song is obviously about someone, male or female, who has Schizophrenia. The person is a loner, as most Schizophrenics are. the person is speaking with the voices, and they are telling them that they can't reject everyone, and they will need to let someone in their lives. but the person is afraid that they will not understand them, and they want to be rid of the voices, but they cant escape. | |

| Im the same too, I like certain parts of some songs like this. I think this song is very powerful and enchanting, like most of their songs it lingers on your mind once you've heard it. Its a great song, I like it a lot, and its the next one they are releasing as a single, hope it does well. | |

| When a band is played constantly on radiostations people quickly lose interest in the band and it's sound. It's the equivilant to having something shoved in your face. No one likes being told what to do/like, and when songs are played over and over that's the interpretation a lot of people begin to feel. Anyhow, I agree both with chino69 and imaginarylight. These are the best answers I could think of. One thing I'd like to note on this song is how when she sings particular portions of the song she sounds a lot different. In the first few lines she sounds very mean and rather angry. In the lines that follow, she sounds more like a person. Almost like she's singing as two different "characters". Very cool stuff. | |

| when I first heard the lyrics I instantly thought of the Britney Spears' song "Lucky"(stupid pop, but still...there os some resemblence). anyway, yeah, I agree that it's about a lonesome person, who acts as if everything is fine and he/she is happy and content, but actually he/she is miserable and lonely, because he is afraid to let his true self to be seen. But all the time there is this special someone who loves him and cares about him and yet, can't get through to him. Kinda like me a couple of years ago, actually | |
