IT's all okay except for the fact the Craig Montoya plays the verse
like this....

G--------------------------
D--------------------------
A--------888----------555--
E--8-8-8-------5-5-5-------

I saw them in concert twice and he played it that way, also you can hear
the strings scratching as he moves fingerings (just listen closely)...

have fun...

Actually, this song is about his older brother who died when art was about 12 or so. His brother did everything he could to please everyone around him.

To me, I think this song is about a girl who is trying to please everyone. Trying to make everything perfect and everyone happy..Totally describes me..

to me he's singing about a person who has been told she was worthless since she was born, so now she can't help but to feel comfortable in situations where she feels small, stupid an victimized.

i think the begining of this song reminds me of myself. "You put yourself in stupid places,Yes I think you know it's true,Situations where it's easy to look down on you,I think you like to be the victim,I think you like to be in pain,I think you make yourself a victim almost every single day,You do what you do,You say what you say,You try to be everything to everyone." i was never trying to fit in though. its just ive been through alotta stuff and when i tell one of my best guy friends he kinda gets annoyed sometimes that im trying to get ppl to feel sorrie for me. but im reallie just trying to explain why i am what i am, and why i have certain beliefs or stand for certain things. somedays i let things bug me so much that it seems like i want to be annoyed. and somedays i try so hard to please ppl. not change to fit in. just to be nice and helpful to them. and otherdays i find myself not caring about what everyone else thinks.

I think hes singing about a girl, he used to date, that left him so that she would look good for other people. Then she got caught up in trouble, and started "selling her body by the pound"

this song is about a perfectionist. this person trys to do everything right and help everyone so much, that he forgets to take care of his own needs.

This is one of my favorite Everclear songs, but it's also depressing to me because it reminds me of the person that I'm trying not to be. Some one who tries to change themselves to fit some one elses ideals. I've known a lot of people like this, I think we all have, even our selves.

i dont think its only about someone trying to fit in, i think its also about those people who put themselves into situations where people feel bad for them. i think thats why he said "you put yourself in stupid places ...in situations where its easy to look down on you. i think you like to be the victim" etc.

It's about my ex-girlfreind. Really messed up girl, lots of problems, but when you take a look at them, they are all self-induced. But that's just the way she was raised. She'll never change just like so many attention seekers out there won't. And before someone posts it, yea I'm kinda bitter that we broke up now lol. :) Good song though
