Of the tabs I've seen for this song, none have been
complete (or correct). I'm quite sure this is complete,
however I could be wrong, and encourage you to listen
to it yourself to make sure you get it the way you want
it. The timing is simple as anybody who's heard the
song knows.

this song is describing basically a relationship where one person wants to let go of everything else and just be with that person but the other person is still thinking about other people and kind of ignoring the other until they need them. the person who is devoted feels trapped and basically just wants to get away. i think we've all had that kind of relationship before.

"swim out past the breakers" - breakers are the waves the hit the beach; so basically swimming for out into the ocean

The world is surely going to destroy itself. I just want to find someone who will leave it all behind with me. Just sit out on the beach in our lawn chairs (with our beer) and watch the world die.

I think this song is about loving someone so much, but knowing that everyday life is taking its toll on the relationship. It's about wanting to go to a beach, which I think represents anywhere that keeps you happy, and living there, leaving behind your troubles and just relaxing. Knowing that the world is fucked up and wanting to swim out past the breakers to watch it detroy itself, knowing you are safe with the one you love.

i LOOOVE this song it makes me wanna jus kick back at the beach with close friends and forget all the shit around me the part where he says "watch the world die" its like watching the world fall asleep... where everything is peaceful again. the beach symbolises peacefulness.... looking out over the ocean is supposed to be relaxing and peaceful... hence... we can live beside the ocean (live where its peaceful)... leave the fire behind (leave the rest of the world to its turbulence and destructiveness)... swim out past the breakers, watch the world die... best song by everclear
