"Overwhelming" (Bass)
As recorded by Everclear on "Songs From An American Movie Volume Two,
A Good Time For A Bad Attitude"
Tabbed by Ashton Bailey (ashton_bailey@hotmail.com) & Jason Pan (balaka@alphalink.com.au)

Key:
pm = palm mute
= slide up towards the neck
/ = slide down towards the body
fb = feedback
h = hammer
b = bend string
r = ring (let string ring)

Tuning Regular for the original (ie Art's Solo version), and a half step down if you want
to play
along with the new version, but it still sounds close in regular. I will be
tabbing it in regular tuning.

I love this song. It's not so much an "up yours" song as it is a "hey, what comes around goes around. You're gonna get it one day" song. The way it's sung gives it more of a feel like he's not even leaving... "I wonder why you stick around Sometimes I wish you would leave" or he doesn't WANT to leave, and he still loves this person. The whole thing obviously is referring to someone who's been abusing him in some way, so I think its great when he says: "You got those crazy blue eyes Yeah, you got those crazy blues" Most people think that "those crazy blues" refers to the eyes again, but I think that it's referring to manic depression. This is such a beautiful song, and so easy to relate to.

Art was making a solo album at one point buthe decided to take it and share it with his band and make it an Everclear album instead. This was one of his singles off of that. I think I actually saw a video for this as an Art song. A great 'Up Yours' song :0)

This song is about physical and emotional abuse and it is an anthem to anybody that has been abused and decided to rip that person out of their life! 1
