| i see this as a 'you're just like me, and with that information i know you'll screw up' type song, and it's tearing art up inside because he wants his daughter (or whoever this is coming from; an older sibling to a younger, a parent to a child, etc.) to not make the same mistakes he did and to be happier as a child, because they're the best years of your life | |

| This is one of my favorite songs too... But I don't necessarily think it's about a father looking at a daughter.. though that makes sense... If so, it probably still isn't about Art's daughter, she's too young... But it could be a guy singing about any sort or person... a friend that they've known a long time and sort of separated from... That's always been my take on it. Anybody remembering someone who use to be happy and how they aren't anymore. | |
