Alright, what i get from this song is a juxtaposition between a bitter love story and the advent of punk/hardcore creeping into the mainstream and making independant bands into rock stars, including Every Time I Die. Ignited by the first line "Stutter step to the beat of a disparaged lover" and then outlined in lines like "There's no difference between being holy (major label rock star) and alone (independant), That's why I'm eagerly fleeing the scene". Seriously, love songs are nothing short of a punk rock song nowadays. It's all we hear, we've basically traded in the genuity of punk and hardcore for the dollar. So, go figure, the best way to show our ignorance is to weave a love scenario. He's turning himself in and pulling the tablecloth with him. Keith has played the rock star; he "knows the strippers real name" and this song seems to portray his want to for those small gigs they played back in Buffalo. Hence, his venture into the mainstream is a broken love story. So essentially, there is a portrayal of 'fake' hardcore bands as well as a love story. There's an irony being incinuated and Keith isn't afraid to self satirise.

Don't knock the song because he's in it. It's awesome song regardless.
