Hole "Asking For It"
Listen to the song for the right rythyms also I don't think it's exact but
it's pretty close
Verse (repeat 4x in first verse, 6x in second and 4x in bridge)
G-----------------------------------------------------
D-----------------------------------------------------
A-5-5-5-5-5--3-3-3-3-3-----------------------------5--
E----------------------------0-5-5-5-4-3-3-3-3-3-3----
Chorus (repeat 4x)
G--------------------
D--------------------
A----------5---5-5-0-
E-1------------------
post-(right after)chorus
G---------------------------------------------------------
D---------------------------------------------------------
A---------------5-5-5-5-5--3-3-3-3-3----------------------
E-1-1-1-1-1----------------------------5-5-5-5-4-3-3-3-3-3
after chorus, before bridge
G------------------
D------------------
A------------------
E-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1--
The bridge is the same as the verse just a little bit of a tempo change
End ("ah....ah.....ah....ah...")
same as post-chorus but slower add an open E at the end
Hope it doesn't confuse you too much,
Megan Skrypichayko

| Hmm, Bite Me-- your tactics are verrry clever. As in "I got the meaning wrong so I'll attack the singer". Teach me how to avoid logical fallacies just like you, PLEASE!! PS Phenobarbiedoll is obviously clever FOR REAL (great name)-- Bite Me needs to take lessons from her! | |

| I'm not what you could class as a Courtney fan, although I do like some of her music. However, I fcuking HATE sexist shit like... "..why would anyone be dumb enough to wear a dress into a moshpit anyways??" I think that's what this song is about. It's tongue in cheek, it's cynical, and I find a lot of these comments really amusing considering that this is what this song is partially about... peoples attitudes like.. "well she was asking for it going there dressed like that." | |

| the person called "Bite Me"....just shut up. your comment really didnt make a hell of a lot of sense and you seem to have misenterprated the quite obvious meaning. despite what real life events this song is/ isnt based on, the basic theme is obviosuly challenging the notion that if an attractive girl is raped then she is 'asking for it'. this is a stigma that feminsts have always fought against and courtney is pretty much a feminist (being part of the riot grrrl thing) despite how she kind of sold out her ideals.. anyway. the 'was she asking for it' line is courtney sticking two fingers up at anyone who believes this crap. irony my dears. | |

| If this song, or at least the chorus, is about rape, then I think Courtney has her head up her ass. She is referrring to that old cliche people say when a woman who went out dressed like a slut and flirted to heavily with some guys ends up getting raped. You're not supposed to take the phrase "asking for it" literally, Courtney, you stupid cunt! It just means she SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER than to dress/act like that around a bunch of horny assholes. P.S. What did Kurt ever see in her? | |

| I wore a skit in the mosh pit last night and i was grand. Good for me. I think what Courtny is trying to say is that even if a girl is "asking for it" it's not an excuss. I love Hole | |

| Adding on to the little argument going on here...this song is about her little stage-rape (when her dress was teared off). But things like that are not only the men's fault. If a girl goes out playing with a man's mind, she is at more of a risk. Still, rape is not excepable. Courtney seems somewhat cynical about the hole rape thing...like when, in a different song, she crys out "oh god just let him rape you". But, in any case, rape is an awful thing. Not something that Courtney (or I) are encouraging! | |

| This is about rape, then. Shame...this song used to mean so much to me when i thought it was about domestic violence. | |

| Yeah, you can download the Courtney AND Kurt version on LimeWire. It's gold. I do think Courtney Love has talent, and she's pretty when she wants to be... They really loved each other. But, I'm still not completely sure about the whole conspiracy bullshit... If she did kill him, she hired someone. | |
