I think that this songs tries to show how lonely people really can be. To Me, this song shows difference between people and how it can affect, for example, a relationship. Iäm not sure though what caused this relationship to an end. "Who would have known the lies that would grow until we could see right through them" This is an example from the difference experienced between people.

to me, its about the singer and his gf, and how they just drifted apart, or split up for some reason. 'remember they knew we were too young we still don't know what it takes to make it'. people didn't think they'd last and he's saying how they were right- they couldn't last together, for whatever reason. i can relate to this quite a lot. maybe they just didn't tell each other how they felt deep down about each other. but whatever it means, GREAT song by the amazing hoobastank.
