Stars-Bass tab
Hum-You'd Prefer an Astronaut
This is the first tab I've written, but this is a relatively easy song
without too many riffs to memorize...
Dropped-D tuning (D,A,D,G)
Guitar does intro, when dist. kicks in this riff begins
G|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|--------77-77------------------------------------------------------|
D|--0-02h4-----------------------------------------------------------|
At 1:55 or when Chorus begins it switches to this
G|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|----------------------------------------------------------77-77----|
D|5-5555555444444440-002h4h20002h4h2-5-5555555444444440-02h4---------|
Bridge-repeats until Chorus riff comes back
G|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|--0-00200400-02h4--------------------------------------------------|
All the riffs used throughout the song are there, just figure out
how many times they're used and you've figured out the song...

| Did his girlfriend go off the deep end? Has she had a nervous breakdown that he could have seen coming but he was too self-absorbed? "i bring home everything i want, nothing that she needs" And what exactly does a crumpled piece of paper with seven nines and tens mean? I dig this song the most though, excellent guitars. | |

| I think the girl in the song killed herself. so the yellow piece of paper was the suicide note. like she thinks she missed the train to mars, like she missed out on an opportunity, and shes counting stars, like shes thinking about what she missed out on. i thought she'd be there holding daisies, she always waits for me -he didnt suspect she was going to do it. and shes not at work shes not at school, he was looking for her, but he found her dead in the backyard or something. | |

| The last chorus, he says, "I thought you'd be there holding Daisy, you always wait for me." Daisy was/is the name of his dog. I think this song is pretty much like everything else on You'd Prefer an Astronaut. He's gone all the time, he comes home, and they barely know each other anymore. | |
