| Great song! Lurve the "Sing a song about myself bit". I played that to everyone else in my band, we just looked at each other guiltily and laughed! (Still prefer "You Held The World", though) | |

| Joe the boy, idlewild aren't english my dear, Scottish!!! Can you not hear his accent when he's singing/talking? anyways, I have no detailed synopsis of this song, i don't really like looking into songs too deeply because it can often blur what the writter was trying to get across of feeling. I'm not sure that idlewild maturing is a good thing tho. I havn;t got the remotist part yet, but my friend said it was very mellow. I liked the older stuff better me thinks! | |

| hahaha I'd hate to say it but although the person who submitted the lyrics made an admirable effort! they are a little off in places. BUT! never fear I'm just going to comment on song now. I think America is the unreal and England is the pride. You want the prettyness but you want the edge. Fuck everyone else, and i'll be independant and sing the song about myself. So you are american english. Deludedly independant :P | |

| I'm a recent American convert to Idlewild, having never even heard of them before a very good British friend of mine pointed them out to me when You Held the World came out. I think, from seeing both perspectives (English and American), most of you are dead on with it being the selfishness that Americans have, and now, the English. Our society has been reinvented in the past 30 years, where we as Americans and English can click onto the internet, see what's happening in the world and what we're doing to help it, but not really let it register with it. We think that this can't happen to us; for example, did anyone ACTUALLY think Osama Bin Ladin would make good on any of his threats? Then, September 11th, our world was shook up. Even living 250 miles from the nearest place that was affected by it, my life did change. I had friends who were affected, who lost other friends and parents. Americans are NOT invincible anymore! Isn't it stange, though, that the country that broke away from England is now the one that is leading it into our own dreams? Take it from a student who spent a year studying exactly what the American Dream is, including the good AND the bad, England is turning precisely into America, its own child. Did you know that the largest maritime disaster was at the hands of the English at the end of WWII, of innocent concentration camp survivors? Bet you didn't. Same reason the murders of Americans aren't publicized. This song will force people to look at what has happened in their world, Americans and English alike. And that, friends, makes it an excellent song, despite Idlewild's past history. It WILL make them huge. ::steps off soap box:: (o: | |
