The way I see this song is suicidal thoughs, with the line 'let me in, i'll bury the pain' aka cutting yourself, making you feel better. I only realised that today, so I may be wrong.

I like the addiction reference, seems as if it projects him into a depressive state that has driven him to suicidal thoughts. But he's past all this however, though this demon (addiction), still lingers. "Let me in, I'll bury the pain", that sounds like the addiction talking. The above post mentioned schizophrenia. These lyrics sound as if they're speaking from two different points of view. Anders view, and on the other side of the mirror...addiction's view. "You made me feel like a sinner. Now you fear you’ll die alone. Let me in, I’ll bury the pain" Definitely the addiction or "drug" speaking. Kick ass 8>)

Maria Gauffin - Vocals on "Metaphor" from the liner notes in the Reroute to Remain booklet P.S. I love this song. I have tons of respect for anyband who can make kick ass heavy songs and beautiful and meaningful slower songs like this.

I think the title has something to do with meaning of the song. And that it is just a song about life in general and how all is not as it seems. "Do you think you can show me, how I got this far?" Is said like a pray to god, asking him(or her) for a sign. Or it could me that it is what you make of it and that it has no one true meaning. Some nice suggestions of what i could be though.^^

i dont think its about suicide, i think it's mostly about an addiction of some source, ya know? either or that he may be talking about a person? perhaps who is depressed, and perhaps brought him down to where he is, made him feel alone, "like a sinner", now he wants to embrace to erase the pain they built around themselves, maybe? tryin to add a new thought wave in here for you guys

one thing that bugs me about this song is that HE SAYS "...can you tell me, how i've come this far...", but the lyrics here say differently blah yo oh well. a little nonimportant point i suppose in flames ~ best band ever. i love them good song too

I think its about mankind neglecting god, and the person saying the things in the song is a desperate god seeking belivers? maybe, i dunno! amazing band none the less.

feeling something strong@certain someone...some kind of obsession...Taking his sadness, letting to ruin your own world (you stole my pure intentions... you taught me to be as sad as you,you almost made me take it all) only because wanna be with him...while he treat you bad,n push you away, like if you are his puppet (...shake me...,break me...) ,but all you want is to make him happy (let me in, Ill bury the pain)...actually that certain someone even dont know how much he means to you,the thing you feel@him dont depend from him...you simply addicted to him (the sickness that you are)... but i dont think that its love, probably its something else, more stronger..its a knocking to someones heart...
