| This song is absolutely incredible. My personal favorite on the album. It's about fear of the past, the way I look at it. The past grows constantly and the writer is hoping that better days are ahead. | |

| I don't think it has to do with drugs really.. I think it's about him starting over as a new person and doesn't want to look back, but In Flames song really doesn't have a real definition, one interpret it as one wants. cheers, Toxik. | |

| firstly, i agree with everyone else who thinks this is IF's most badass song my favorite line in the song is definitely "I found a flame in the burnt out ashes... burn out, burn out" reminds me a lot of the relationship i'm trying to get over. my ex broke up with me about a year ago and just when i think i've gotten over it, i see her around or think about her and realize how much i miss her. i can't get over it and just hope that every day i'll wake up and she won't be on my mind. Anders keeps finding a flame in the burnt out ashes of his past relationship, and he's crying for it to finally burn out | |

| Its more about burning away the past trauma and move on. Burn away the shadow, if you put light to a shadow it disappears and thats what I think its about. | |

| I just agree with what some of the above said (not all), that he still finds a flame in the burnt out ashes of his past relationship, and he's begging for it to burn out, to let him let go and stop all the pain. | |

| In Flames is a great band, I love all their stuff but what I particularly like about this song is the way they make it sound, it has a really sincere sound that when you listen to it you feel like your connecting with it. I don't know if anyone else feels the same way but it's a great song all together. | |

| I like the sound of the new album, especially this song. It motivates by saying 'move forward!' (though "In Flames" never made happy enough music to bring out this message authentically) but primarilly screams out pain, such as "The Quiet Place" does. I can't refuse to scream with him in the refrain... I adore this incredible singer. | |

| The song is about a past relationship, the emotional baggage of the breakup is still with him. He is trying to move on, and in looking back he is motivated to change. The best songs on this album-it is driving the way the music and lyrics blend together. | |

| Not saying i thing any of the above is wrong, this song could mean a variety of things depending on the way you look at it, but, imo; It means he has moved on from a dark past or period in his life which he was unsure how to get out of. Suddenly he finds a new addiction, a new obsession (The flame), and to his sweet shadow in which he used to reside and hide he now looks to no more. Basically. | |
