first off i would like to say that i know this song has no bass.....but if you want
to play it here is something i have been tinkering around with....oh yeah, for a
better sound pluck the notes with your fingernails.....i just modified this to make
it sound better

Intro/Verse
G|12-12---9-9--------------
D|---------------8-8---3-3-
A|------------------------- repeat until the chorus (the number of times varies so
E|------------------------- listen closely

Chorus
G|4-4-4-4-4-4--------------
D|-------------5-5-5-5-5-5-
A|-------------------------
E|------------------------- play that once then wait for the guitar to finish
strumming then play this:

G|----------------------------
D|---2-2-2-2-2-2--------------
A|----------------3-3-3-3-3-3-
E|---------------------------- the chorus should repeat directly after you finish
that....again play until done and listen closely......

please rate this or make any comments you wish....

sadly. this reminds me of a relationship i had when i was much younger. :\ jenster, i agree. you see this in many relationships. example; this is the way my cousin feels about her relationship with her mother. it works on all levels.

atarisemokid, I'm pretty sure you can find the tabs to this song at tabcrawler.com. I never really listened to this song until my friend became obsessed with it, but now I know why she loved it so much. I think it's an excellent song.. describing a relationship with anyone. It could be a friendship, a family thing, or a boyfriend/girlfriend situation. Great song...

Its about not being able to help yourself...and the one person who can save you....is too FUCKING selfish to do so.

i think it's about a relationship where she means more to him than he means to her. he feels so much for her, but she doesn't want to give, because she is too scared or too selfish. i think the "mexico" bit means that, "i'm getting you out of my life". freaking brilliant song. one of the best on morning view - they should release it. it's so beautiful. i think it can also have to do with a friend though, not just a relationship. one of my friends is like this, doesn't consider any one elses feelings no matter what you say. this song was a PERFECT example of how i was feeling. it's so beautiful

Me being mexican, i just thought this song was cool. But after really listening to the lyrics i found that this had to do alot with me and my previous relationship.Hes talking about a girl who "only thinks about herself" and no matter what the guy is going through she doesnt even notice.Well that SUCKS

I'm in a relationship right now with a very selfish man. I know he loves me, but he's never had to look out for anyone other than himself, and he's having a hard time evolving. When I first heard this song I was at his house, and I cried and cried. He asked what was wrong, and I told him to really listen to the words. It was funny, cos I was thinking of moving to Florida, and Brandon sings about leaving to somewhere far off, too. I don't know if my boyfriend fully understands the meaning to this song, but it touches me so deeply on so many levels. Thank you, Incubus, for another wonderful song!

to jenster- you're right, this situation of selfishness in another person doesn't necessarily have to be with a romantic partner ... ironic, though, that that's where we usually find such abuses .... anyone second that?
