I love love love love love incubus! this is their BEST song ever! 1. because it doesnt sound like them 2. because the beat, the bass, the guitar, drum and brandon's voice all collaborate really well and make a funky song! it reminds me of primus! this song really just means thinking differently, deeply into life than others. like "...Some think I'm insane, 'cause I think about the other thing, than that one thought you call reality.. What if what you thought, about who you think you thought you were, was nothing more than illusion rapidly crumbling!.." He's thinking what if..."radical" things, and it's making him confused. the beat gives a sense of confusion, chaos. He's thinking what if our reality isn't really real? etc. He's skeptic about reality and then he's "stumbled upon a brain fart, which melts away our molds" meaning he's come across (bare with me, it's hard to put it) something hidden, but the "bad" bit in his brain(wasn't really the word i was looking for), the bit that's making him thinking about the azwethinkweiz that actually helps him uncover the real "reality" do you see what i'm saying? Incubus are the best!

i think a LOT of you were really close to explaining it, but none of you hit it directly on the head. yes of course they were high, and no one needs to argue that at all. like he says in the song, its hard to think about, therefore its hard to explain in words what he means, which is why this song seems like it makes no sense. i can try, but itll take a visualization to show you what i mean, and since i cant do that ill try to explain what i think he means. it may sound stupid, but then again, read the lyrics and he says it will sound stupid... or "insane" "Some think I'm insane, 'cause I think about the other thing, than that one thought you call reality.." itll make sense in a minute if you understand that full sentence. What if what I thought, about who I think I thought I was, was nothing more than my cerebellum slobbering? justifies what Iota said about "i think therefore i am." but its a bit different. people think of themselves as entities with a soul, a metaphysical substance that exists which they see reality through. brandon is saying that his thoughts are nothing but particles swimming through his head, processing the information put into it by his senses. thats what the sentence "than that one thought you call reality" means. its kinda like looking at a tv screen. from a distance you see a perfectly clear picture, but the closer you get, the more it looks like seperate little rectangles pieced together to make one big picture. now what if your thoughts were the same way? what if the image you think you see in your head is just tiny little PHYSICAL pieces put together to form an image that your brain tells you that you see? thats what he means "What if what I thought, about who I think I thought I was, was nothing more than my cerebellum slobbering?" "Azwethinkweism is hard to think about, but simple to trust." like i said its hard to explain and hard to even comprehend, but once you get the idea of what its about, youll believe it.

I think it's actually about how some people think things other than the norm. If you syllabilise the title it ends up being As we think we is. So it could be saying that even if what you think is a statistical infrequency, it doesn't mean it's wrong.

This song is basically total nonsense they wrote when they were high. I've got an exclusive recording of one of their private acoustic concerts, and Brandon and crew attempt to play the song twice before just collapsing into a silence of bemused mirth. Brandon comments "Ohhhhh my God, what was I thinking when I wrote this song, I must've been out of my mind".

i've always had this heaps weird concept of what the lyrics could mean, ever since i heard this song back in the day :) it's a bit confusing but bear with me... they're high as shit, right? and you know how when you're high sometimes you have like eighty four thoughts at the same time, and they all come in layers and then you try to remember the thought you were having three seconds ago, but all of a sudden you've got the memory of a goldfish and all u can think about is how hungry you are? ok, well that's KiNDa what i think it's about... just that absolute tangle of thoughts u have when you're stoned. he's tryina think about the 'other thing' than the thing that's currently in his head, but he's just too whacked to focus. and azwethinkweizm is just the philosophical side of the things we ponder when we're stoned, such as how we should exist etc... it's hard to think about cos a) you're whacked and b) often it's difficult to live in a way that's true to yourself; but it's simple to trust cos it's your intuition. Donut boy is that idiot who's always around when you're having a smoke and he eats all the food and doesn't understand the conversation... ahah y'all might think i'm crazy but i've always wanted to share that angle with someone

This is one of my favs too. So many people only know "Drive" and other recent singles. In my opinion, their music (instruments) was better than it is now. I always wondered what was said at the end, I figured it was played backwards.

this song is just so funky.... the whistling at the beginning is freakin sweeeeet. I definately know exactly what this song means and exactly what azwethinkweizm is, but there is no way i could explain it in words.....like he says it's hard to think about and it really is lol mosquitogod i like your take on the whole thing though you are on the right track to what i am thinking..

go Thehappiest colour like you said i think its about brandon looking at reality and thinking skeptics thoughts. realising that this may not be reality, hes thinkng of the "other reality" "some think i'm insane 'cause I think about the other thing, than that one thought you call reality.." the one thought is the other reality. because this is new and not yet experienced by the majority, they think he's insane the melting away your molds bit refers to that thought wich melts away all your other contradicting beliefs about reality, that its actually an illusion breaking away "What if what you thought, about who you think you thought you were, was nothing more than illusion rapidly crumbling!"

I think that Azwethinkweiz is a spin off of "I think therefore we am". The line that stands out to me is, "Some think I'm insane, 'cause I think about the other thing, than that one thought you call reality." In other words he's saying, you think I'm nuts because I don't think like you do. The song's about free thinking. Think for yourself. Question Authority.
