| definitly about dirk. its too bad that dirk was a fucking awsome bassist. I dont really blame him for leaving. hes a funk/rock guy. thats why all his crazy bass lines are on fungus amongus. he was more than discouraged by morning view im sure. as much as i like morning view, theres not too much going on on bass. but now hes kicking himself cuz the bass lines on crow are pretty tight. | |

| This song is about Dirk Lance, the ex-bassist of incubus. "I'm over my head I need a pick-me-up Its easy to get high when you're standing on our backs, man" -- "our backs" refers to the other members of the band and "getting high" is making a name for yourself and having fame for being in the band | |

| It's a total political statement, the album was aimed at that theme. I think this song is the most obscure piece of art. | |

| Also the lyric "So fuck yourself and fuck this bleeding heart of mine" is i think saying that he is really sad to have to kick Dirk out of the band becuase they were like best friend and highschool and to have to do something like that to one of your friends has to be hard.... but it still was very backstabbing of Dirk to be like that | |

| This song is about their previous bass player. "The rides over, did you enjoy yourself" is basically telling him that its over for him and hes never getting back on. Theres a lot of comments about them being gay "Im kicking myself that i shared spit with you" is not saying they were kissing. Its meaning like whenever they would smoke weed and pass the hit on they would kinda share spit "so take another hit" "steal another line". | |

| That song is written in second and a half person. Lyrically, I stepped into what in my mind was what somebody else was trying to say at a very specific situation and couldn't say, so I basically stepped into their voice and said it for them. And that's all I can really say... ~Brandon Boyd | |

| Whoever this song was about (I would have no clue, I was probably like 9 when Dirk was in the band), I don't like them very much. They remind me too much of myself and what I want to change. | |
