if I'm not mistaking in an interview incubus(brandon) made it clear that the band wasn;t political or even share the same belief's. I can't tell you what magazine but either the website or rollingstone? some were liberal, some conservative some green. so i think left means more left out than left side of the courtroom

Adding on to what RisingBeauty wrote - not only is the crow seperate from the murder...but he it to the left - just like the political views of incubus - against the right-wing conservatives running the country right now.

first off i would like to ask.. what was wrong about the first lyrics?? i believe u had the same thing the first one did.. anywho... lol i think its funny everyone thinks its about dirk.. sweet.. wierd kinda.. hehe i think this song is about the major influence society, and othe people, even brandon himself have on people. It is kind of like make yourself. DOnt listen to what other people are saying/doing. do you own thing and make your own identity and dont let it be formed by othr peoples actions. He says unlearn me.. he means people could form better opinions and such if they "un learned" all the things they already know to be true. If yor mind was a blank slate you could look, find, and be free

When i met Brandon at one of their concerts we talked about this song. The idea behind this song is the holographic theory which states that the universe has holographic properties and could be considered a hologram.A holographic film can be broken, but every piece will still contain all of the information to put together the complete image. When brandon says "every piece contains a map of it all" this is what he is refering to.In saying "unlearn me" brandon is trying to forget what he knows so he can truly see what is really there. He has refered to "unlearning" on make yourself in out from under (resist, unlearn, defy) where he wants to forget what he knows so he can "see the sky".This is the same principle.Brandon understands that there is a broader horizon beyond the media and bright lights and is obviously striving to reach that plane of truth. He is outside of the majority, thus a crow left of the murder. It is a great life lesson that is seldom taught.Themosquitogod has a great point with the buddhist belief system.i'm sure it is all interconnected. If anyone wants to learn more about the holographic theory i recommend buying The Holographic Universe by Michael Talbot. You can find it on amazon.com. As for the guy who dissed Dirk and Brandon, fuck you. They are the nicest guys in the world.

correct lyrics: Un-learn me Ditch what I read behind what I heard Look. Find. Free. Yet! Do you get it, yet? Do you get it? From here on, it's instinctual! Even straight roads meander! Every piece contains a map of it all! It all! Evidence in the march of the ant, pulse of the sea Look. Find. Free... Yet! Do you get it, yet? Do you get it?! From here on, it's instinctual! Even straight roads meander! Ever piece contains a map of it all! It all! Out of line (and) indivisable! A crow left of the murder! Every piece contains a map of it all! It all! Everything I wanted wanted to know Everything I wanted wanted to see To see
