| this song seems to me that shes trying to make the relationship perfect by fixing everything thats wrong in it,and shes saying she can change so everything will be better again but it doesnt work that way and she just keeps trying to fix everything. | |

| it feels to me like a relationship thats over and shes begging for him to tell her whats wrong with her and fix her, no matter how much it hurts her, and then also theres her resistance cuz she doesnt want to still be hung up on this guy cuz it hurts too much (change the way i feel about her) and then just giving up and saying 'ill accept this pain because thers no way i can escape it, but i will get you back' and then the 'until tomorrow' is just the idea that her fighting and begging and resisting is all pointless, because its so short term. i adore this song, it makes me want to cry | |

| Hold me under cut away this empty Hold me under change the way I feel about you i read lots of analysis of joj songs that interpret them in terms of self harm, i'm suprised this one hasn't been. i know the 'cut' is kind of unsubtle, but i kind of see what might be meant.... like - 'cut away this empty...change the way i feel about you' - she's trying to get over this relationship, how its eating away at her, and then it eats away, it becomes such a consuming part that she feels empty. that emptiness from depression and anger over the relationship. so she cuts it away, and for a time can stop having to feel about her ex. | |

| i really relate to what i think about the meaning of this song. I think it's about not being able to get over a past relationship...be it romantic or not....and it eats away at you that the relationship is gone. You really do wish you could cut that part of you out and but either way something about you will feel amiss or empty. | |

| i dont think that its about changing for someone, its about realizing you want out, and that the pains not necicery, and wanting the feeling of love to go, love = pain | |

| This song reminds me of an ex of mine and how I fell in love with him *after* I broke up with him and didn't want to feel that way, as he didn't love me anymore. I like how JoJ songs are always so personal like that. *sniff* | |

| Surgery. Awesome song. I love it. My favorite line-"repair the injury called you and me". I believe this song is about a relationship being over and you wanting to fix it and start anew but you just cant and another day passes by-"until tomorrow" and its still not working out | |

| i dont think that the songs about a relationship, it seems more to me like the lack of a relationship. she says change the way i feel about you and cut away this empty, like he doesnt return the feelings or its just going nowhere. im sure that everybodys felt that nothing ness thats evenworse then being heartbroken. i feel like shes saying that since she cant change the way it feels she wants the person to be a prick to her so taht it might make her change becuase the feelings out of her hand | |

| I agree with you all...this is an amazing song. and Jessicka seems to be feeling so much pain and she writes it so beautifully and so many people can relate, witch makes all JoJ songs so much better..besides the fect the vocals are beautiful | |

| I agree with you there, Martyr, with a few additions. the 'cut away this empty' line is something I've felt before. After a difficult ending to a difficult relationship, there is an emptyness, a void, where there is no pain but there is nothing else to replace the pain you felt. You feel like cutting away at yourself to take out the empty space. The repitition of 'I can change' suggests that she felt that if she was given a chance, she could turn herself int o a different person, a person worthy of his love. Or maybe I'm self-relating too much..... ::with a halo in my hand:: | |

| one of the scariest things about JOJ songs for me is that irelate to them so completely. This song to me has always been about the aftermath of a good relationship that went to hell. The empty space left drives you absolutely crazy and its a wierd balance o f missing and still loving someone and then just wishing it was all gone every memory every feeling. I love this song its intense n mater how many times i hear it. All JOJ songs have this great quality that you can absolutely lose yourself into them its briliant! Angel | |
