| i really love this song, it isn't glamourising self-mutilation or nethin, it's just teliing it the way it is. it's no use pretending ppl dont do it, but this is a way to show ppl who do that they ain't alone, other ppl get down too. I think it is a beautiful song about someone that Jessika loved who harmed herself but didn't see that it was hurting jessika too. For every cut this girl gav herself, Jess felt it too, just as bad and when she 'lost' this girl, through suicide or whatever, she lost some of herself as well as she loved her so much and was so connected to her. It is a beutiful song that i really connect to and Jessika's singing talent is amazing. | |

| I think that this song is about a girl who got her friend in to drugs or some other sort of thing similar to that. The part where it says "Curse me sold her the poison that runs its course through her" is talking about her giving her the drugs and the strawberry gashes might be the track marks. When she talks about faulting her, she is telling her that she's getting too carried away and all that she wants now is the drugs In the verse "called her over and asked her if she was imnproving" I think that this part is her friends in rehab and she is visiting her. But obviously she died from the drugs or something of the ike because she still feels guilty when she says "Whatch me lose her, it's almost like losing myself.. Give her my soul and let them take somebody else..." She still feels responsible for involving her with drugs. | |

| Curse me sold her The poison that runs it's course through her Pale white skin with strawberry gashes all over all over [She sold her the self-hate that's running through her, she feels that it's her fault the girl hates herself] Watch me fault her [She feels like she's still doing it] Called her over and asked her if she was improving She said feels fine it's wonderful wonderful here [I think she's at a mental hospital] Hex me told her I dreamt of a devil that knew her Pale white skin with strawberry gashes all over all over [She's saying curse/hex her again, she told her about a dream that she had, which was nothing less than the truth] Scold me failed her If only I'd held on tighter to her Pale white skin that twisted and withered away from me away from me [Scold her because she think's it's her fault the girl killed/mutilated herself] Watch me lose her It's almost like losing myself Give her my soul and let them take somebody else get away from me [Asking them to take her instead, because she feels she's killing herself by faulting the girl who's killing herself...] There's my reason of the day. | the first time i listened to this wonderful, beautiful, yet depressing song i interrpreted it as death by bondage here's why: the first is about the funeral, the second is bc in bondage you can auction your submissive's or something like that if you want and "sold her" could be that or that she brought her into the world of bondage, the third is the friend becomes obsessive over the 'pain for pleasure' part of bondage ya know, the strawberry gashes could be from the whipping, the fourth is the checking up on the friend to make sure she wasnt' in too much pain from the bondage, the fifth is the person is cursing themselves for telling the friend of the bondage world and the "devil" is the friend's master/dominant, the sixth is maybe the friend was talking about her virginity or something i'm not quite sure, the seventh is the person is cursing themselves again wishing that they would've kept the friend closer to them, not let them get carried away, the eighth and final is that the master got carried away and ended up beating her or what not, to death basically, and (going back to the beginning) they cremated the body ("save all her ASHES for me") so that no one would know her dirty little secret, i think it makes sense but after hearing everyone else's opinion i felt i should put my first impression on here, this band is great, thank you world for giving us them...bye - < | |

| I was wondering is the line ""Some things you lose and some things you just give away" in praise of Sleater-Kinney? Or some how related?? Because it seems to be a direct quote from Good Things by the them, and it's in quotations in this song. I don't know. The song is about breaking/losing a girlfriend. Does anyone know?? I like this song a lot! | |

| I don't see this song as being about another person. More a letter to herself, talking about herself in the third person. In particular, the line "it's almost like losing myself" makes me think that. I know that when I'm confronted with any sort of personal issue (ie cutting), it makes it easier to look at things in perspective if I imagine it as another person. Mind you, I could be wrong about that... | |

| I think it's about someone who she loved alot who cut herself. And everytime that person cut themselves, she had the scar, too. Not nessacerilly because she cut herself, but because she loved that person so much it's like they were one. And then that person killed themself, so she is dying, too. | |
