Song: Zooma
Artist: John Paul Jones
Album: Zooma
Tabbed by: Philippe Alexandre Clegg (phil25uk@hotmail.com)
This is the title song to JPJ's great album Zooma. It is played on either an 8-
or 12-stringed bass, so there is a thick sound (use an octave pedal maybe...).
There are some pretty hard riffs to hear and transcribe, and for these I have
either tabbed an alternative or left a blank. I never play bass with a pick,
but this one is a fast one. JPJ must use a pick for this one to hit all of the
strings anyway. So, here you go.
Riff A
G---------------------------------|---------------------------------|
D---------5---------------5-------|---------5---------------5-------|
A---7-5-7---7-5-7-5-7-5-7---7-5-7-|---7-5-7---7-5-7-5-7-5-7---7-5---|
E-0-------------------------------|-0-----------------------------7-|
G---------------------------------|---------------------------------|
D---------5---------------5-------|---------5-------------0-----0-2-|
A---7-5-7---7-5-7-5-7-5-7---7-5-7-|---7-5-7---7-5-7---0-2---0-2-----|
E-0-------------------------------|-0---------------3---------------|
Riff B
G---------------|| ---------------------------| Whole riff repeated 4 times
D--------------*|| -----------------5-6-5-7-6-| but there is a long bass part
A-7--6--5--4---*|| -7--6--5--4--5-7-----------| going off at the end of the
E---------------||X3 ---------------------------| 4th time. Back in with A.
Those are your riffs. Just use each one when appropriate, you'll hear the change.
Well have fun.
