| Daddio, With that part of the song, I always thought it was about how the person that the songs talking about tried to do confrom to society, but he ended up washed up, thus he "Dangled from the powerlines". "Let the martyrs stretch" This songs from the point of view of a depressed person, someone who's self pity makes themselves feel like a loser. His mind thinks everyone else is a martyr because he loathes himself, but he comes to the realisation at that point, that they are normal, and are just doing daily stretches. Y'know, just warming up stretches that people do before sports. Or it could mean that he's trying to do something meaningful and the "Let the martyrs stretch" line means that, in his mind, he's trying to be a martyr, he's trying to get there, but he realises if he wants to become a martyr, the whole concept of a martyr would have to stretch. I can't really say much more, otherwise I'd be repeating what everyone would have already said. Just my two cents... | |
