	This song is no question talking about religion. Its talking about how jesus was asked to bring christianity to the people and how god told him to spread the religion. Carry on my wayward son, My wayward son as in God's son Jesus was the son of god i am not religious at all but after Mordern World History class i know just a little about how the shit happened

	I don't know if the guy is necessarily talking about Jesus, but he definately has some sort of higher purpose. Perhaps he is a once rich man who gave it all up because he was completely hollow inside, and though he "set his course for winds of fortune," his inner voice is telling him that that will not bring him lasting happiness.
