The first time I heard this song I said to myself Damn, This song is a Smiths/Morrissey tribute song. The opening guitar riffs are definetely out of Johnny Marr's book. The lyrics are very much like alot of my favorite Smiths songs too. This song is tied with Jenny for favorite tracks on this CD. Anybody else hear some Smiths motivation??

By the way, I think the lyrics up there are wrong, i would have sweard that the verse is: "Mom says, why don't you stay You've been away for a long time" At the same time please clarify this line because I donīt understand them, what old hallway? mom? natalieīs mom? the singerīs mom? both?

This song is, in a literal sense, about a girl with aids, but beyond that it is about everyone At some point in their lives everyone is this girl, or at the very least, knows someone who is this girl Natalie could be your best friend from high-school who isn't ever going to leave the crappy little town you both were born in. Natalie could be a person you hardly knew who moved to a big city and realized he/she would rather be back home, but can't face the difficulties that would come with it Natalie could be the girl you met and fell in love with but won't come out her shell and open herself up to you Natalie could be a middle aged man stuck in a dead-end job as he watches the essence of his life slip thorugh the hand he once thought held a tight grip on his dreams Natalie could be the person you constantly worry is slipping down the wrong path in life, and throwing away all their potential, even at a tender age Natalie is everyone Everyone has a no turning back point in their life, to do something, or to wilt Everyone has massive potential and beauty, symbolized by the arch of roses above them Everyone has friends, family, whomever telling them they can never do it, never change, never be something special Everyone has someone too, who believes and dreams for them And everyone must take advantage when ever they have achance to disco

The killers are top but they have a familiar sound so they have been pieced together by other bands' sounds. (Loveisblind) Not their best song I agree musically but Brandon's voice makes it sound awesome.

This song reminds me of Natalie Hershlag, perhaps because I'm slightly infatuated with her. To me the song emphasizes the necessity of living life to its fullest; I am told that the Natalie here is a person diagnosed with AIDS, so it would make sense that the singer is pleading with her to get out and enjoy life despite her condition. Although I'm probably wrong, the stanza about the old cliche, Monet, and arch of roses seems like a wall of photographs, perhaps a shot of Natalie at her wedding standing under an arch of roses (a wedding cliche) hanging underneath a Monet print. And yes, I too hear "Mom says" instead of "Moses"; it makes more sense although it might be wrong. I can imagine a good music video for this song; that alone shows that the song itself has enough content to evoke a whole story of images in my mind. This is by far my favorite song and one I enjoy listening to while falling asleep.

im pretty sure that is actually "mom says, why dont you stay youve been away for a long time" because who says moses in a song and doesnt mom sound more possible, like you could actally picture a mother saying "please stay i havent seen you for so long" not moses please stay.

aparently this song is about the 80's and aids when every one was discoing and taking drugs and sharing needles and natalie ends up using some drugs with some one who has aids so she dies in the end...and the person who is singing the song before was trying to get her of the drugs now he is trying to comfort her while shes dying....I LOVE this song even if it's depressing...and these are brandons words not mine

Why is it so terrible that the song is about a woman with AIDS? Thats life, you know. If it is infact about AIDS, instead of being unhappy about it, why dont you look at it as a song that is encouraging someone to use their time wisely and not let things slip away from them? Because that basically is what it is.

Some of the lyrics at the top are wrong. I love the song. Dammit, why does it have to be about a girl with AIDS.
