as you can see in the musicvideo (they carve words into broken branches) the first line is "Numb and broken"

Well.... I guess I'm going against the majority by saying this, but I really didn't like KSE this time around. Alive Or Just Breathing was bloody brilliant, and maybe I'm just too set into my ways, thinking that nobody but jesse can sing lead for Killswitch, but The End Of All Heartache just disappointed me... severely. it's also very strange for me to be saying all of this when Howard is infact one of my favorite vocalists. most of you die-hard Killswitch fans are probably going to slit my throat for saying this, but it's not Howards part that I was disappointed with. I don't like the MUSIC. the band seems to have changed.... granted, not A LOT, but enough to notice. it seems they're a tad bit (dare I say it??) ....nu-metal. yeah yeah, I know. it's a horrid thought. but it's what I feel. I just cannot grasp unto this new KSE. well, look on the bright side of things.... they will always have Alive Or Just Breathing to fall back on. -S.

Great lyrics, and yeah, it's about the lost of a loved one. Good to hear bands talking about the lost of a loved one this way. Can't wait until this album is out.

I was fortunate enough to get sent the KSE e-card that they had on their website, so I heard the entire album a couple of weeks beofre it came out. Then I saw the video once they released it. To put it short and simple, this song fucking sold me. The lyrics are deep and meaningful, the music is melodic and brilliant. KSE never fails to amaze me. The downside is I've never had the chance to see them live. I live in Winnipeg, MB, Canada, and they've never been, and probably won't anytime in the next couple years, so I'm fucking desparate to see them live.

This song hits home for me particularly losing two very close family members. When they say the part..."I mourn for those who never knew you"...I almost break down in tears. Great song.

Also, I forgot to mention, Jesus is called "The Rose of Sharon" a great number of times in the bible.

Well I agree with several of you in a lot of ways. I personally take it as a song to a loved one far away, but also, I could see it as him talking to Jesus like him putting himself in the position of one of the deciples right before Jesus' crusifixion. Wondering what the last words they said to him were. To behold his "face of love" again, and the scripture says "God is love" or "the wondering sun will always speak your name" and the scripture says that "if men don't praise me, the rocks will cry out." And in the chorus "it won't be long, we'll meet again, you're memory is never passing" saying they'll never forget Him or the sacrifice He made and how they will see him again in Heaven, and about mourning for those who never knew him because they will spend eternity in hell. Anyways, he may not have written the song that way or for that purpose, but I can see it being taken that way. Feel free to comment me.

"the first word in the song is NUMB not now fuckhead" - which I and slipmaira have both noted earlier, which you would have noticed, if you had actually bother to read the other posts before wasting everyone's time, you ignorant little shit.

I just wanted to know if anyone had any thoughts on the similarity between the title of this song and Rose of Sharon in The Grapes of Wrath... because in that story, she also lost a loved one... or many

This song is indeed about one of Howard Jones' friends' death. Its a very good song once you really look at it - it has a very personal feel to it.
