| I read in an interview that this song was about a lonely transvestite who lived in a small town, where it's the hardest to be a transvestite. Sorta makes sense from the lyrics, but sorta doesn't | |

| This song is so raw and so awesome. I'd like to believe its a true story ... totally sounds like some place the Followill's would be hangin out. I think the song's about a despondent hooker in some down-trodden mid-American town, but that's as far as I go. The beauty of this song lies in the fact that its meaning is so ambiguous & I believe it should remain that way. Favourite line is when he says "All the bubbas got their heads in a nod" haha... sounds like Forrest Gump! - -= K O L =- - | |

| Sweet song, the cocaine theories sound good to me; the drummer in my band met Nacho, kols' cousin and tour tech. He asked to meet kol, and Nacho said he would take him if he had any cocaine. | |

| i think the line is also trani on gin cause thats what i hear and it makes more sense. i think it refers to him layin his money on the ground like a trani layin his cock on the ground. the "on gin" bit refers to him having a whiskey/gin dick. | |

| this song is simply about a trani on a ten. as in cocaine. I don't try to read into this song too deeply because i feel that it's just telling the plain hard truth. Sometimes telling a story about a particular part of life has more of an impact than using metaphors and speaking figuratively. | |

| What's a whiskey/gin dick? It kind of makes sense but I think it's trani on ten...as in drugs. I've mentioned drugs in so many of my comments. But I think it is...ten pills or whatever. Y'know... Hick has pretty good logic on this one...it just depends on how you take it. | |

| it's about a trani getting the shit kicked out of them. "Cops are on the call, waiting for the priest. fingers in the dirt, and he's spitting out his teeth" | |

| It is a hard song to understand...and maybe we are not suppose to...kinda like hyeanddry said...but I love the song and I would like to know the correct lyrics. One part nobody seems to dispute but I have trouble believing he says "throw in a white noise sound"...to me...noway...he says "blowing white noise sound". If ya don't think so...watch the live shows...he totally says "blowing...". | |

| but the song meaning? i think it has to do with strippers and prostitutes. women who sell themselves for drugs to men who don't think about their place in the world, men who probably have wives at home. oscillating on the ground is what i hear and it reminds me sort of the way a dancer would move. | |

| “On the last night of the Dylan tour,” Caleb says, “Dylan came into our dressing room and he says [here Caleb affects Dylan’s husky rasp:] ‘What’s that last song you guys played?’ And I said, ‘Uh, it’s called ‘Trani’ [a little ditty about transvestite hookers from the first album]. And Dylan goes, ‘That’s a hell of a song.’ “I think that was pretty much the biggest thrill of my entire life.”.. from the bonnaroo website. | |

| To me the debate on Trani is quite simple (I may have it wrong) however in Oz we call an old radio a trani (from transister radio). So a trani has a tinny sound anyway, thus in a tin shed or on a tin roof sounds even worse. Hence "a white noise sound, like a trani on tin". | |

| it is impossible for me to pick a favouite KOL track but this could be it along with joes head, talihina sky and soft even though i;m not really sure what it is about. i think its about him going to see a hooker and not cuming before his time is up. he then lays his money on the ground and before long at his discretion they both cum. hey, kings of leon said yym was more make believe lol. | |

| I'm pretty sure the line is "Like a trani on gin". But that makes little sense to me either. What the hell is a trani? A transvestite? And I also thought that line near the end was "The cops are on a call, Layin down the freeze (/peace?) Fingers in the dirt, spitting out his teeth" | |
