i think maybe the car line is saying the cars are the heros, and the fathers are the ones who die off. I'm not sure if thats what gepetto was trying to say but thats my opinion. So yea its a metaphor for fathers walking out o their families and how the children are always the ones who look forward to them coming home. Until they grow older, into adults, and realise that they aren't coming back

I think that the first line "watching cars....it's gone" is a metaphor for the next line "heros die...never stay". A hero that dies off is a father that leaves, because a father figure is suppose to be a hero figure, and when fathers leave, it's the same as a hero dying off. But sometimes kids can't accept the reality."hopeless opinions" probably refers to hopeless thoughts of getting their hero back. And that being all that he has learned is saying like learning a huge life lesson from acknowledging this reality.

This song is short and kinda weird but it is simply amazing and sounds great.
