Less Than Jake
Magnetic North

Less Than Jake
Magnetic North

intro
G:------------5-----5----/ repeat this 5 times, then on the
D:----5---5-3---3--------/ 6th finish on the 3rd fret on
A:--3-------------1---1--/ the D string (first hit)
E:-----------------------/

pre-verse/chorus
G:-------------/ where i've put 2 strum marks, that just
D:-------------/ means play for longer (just listen to
A:--3^^----1^--/ the cd)
E:------1^-----/

verse
G:--------------------------/
D:--------------------------/
A:--33--333--3-------11--1--/
E:-------------11--1--------/

right, now and again Rog puts fills in here an there,
these are mainly found in the pre-verse/chorus, i've
tabbed some of what you could play, but i've let you
decide where to put 'em, 'cos for all it matters you
could put them any where, and when ever you want, so
you can either use these, or make your own up, or just
improvise around C

fill 1
G:--------------------/ if you listen to the song closely
D:-----5-----2h3p2----/ you will hear this in the chorus,
A:--3^---3-3-------3--/ so put it in when you feel, but make
E:--------------------/ sure to carry on down to 1(E) etc...

chorus change
G:--------------------------/ after this go back to the chorus
D:--11-1------11-1----------/ riff
A:-------11-1------1-1-1-1--/
E:--------------------------/

this bit is weird, mainly 'cos the bass is very low and hard
to hear, but also could be played 2 different ways, but i've
tabbed down what i play and an alternative

bridge
(my version)
G:----------------5----------/
D:----5-----5---33-33---3----/ Both these riffs sound fine
A:--33-33-33-33-------11-11--/ just that i prefer to go higher
E:---------------------------/ than to go lower, as another
alternative, you could just
alternative play the normal chorus riff,
just that if you add more notes
G:---------------------------/ makes it a bit more interesting
D:----5-----5-----------3----/
A:--33-33-33-33---3---11-11--/
E:--------------11-11--------/

chorus end
(there bit where chris screams 'That they do')

G:------------/ let all the notes ring, or just
D:------------/ strum them gentally
A:--5----7-8--/
E:------------/

bridge after chorus end
G:---------------/ this varies a bit, so just
D:-----------3^--/ get with the music
A:--33--3-1^-----/
E:---------------/

now all ya have to do is :
G:------/
D:------/ just play this with the music
A:--3^--/ then add the the bridge riff
E:------/ once, then go back to the chorus

now i'll show you the rest of the fills Rog
plays, i dought there exact, just fiddle with 'em
if ya don't like 'em

fill 2
G:-----------------/
D:--1h3p1----------/
A:--------3-1-3-1--/
E:-----------------/

fill 3
G:--------------------/
D:--------------------/
A:-----3-----1h3p1----/
E:--1^---1-3-------3--/

chorus outro riff
G:-------------------/ before this you have to move
D:--77--55--3-2-3-5--/ up to this area, 'cos i am sure Rog
A:-------------------/ plays up to it, so i say do what ever
E:-------------------/ just so it sounds good, and gets to
what i'm on about eg:

G:------------/ something like this, just so long as
D:-----5---5--/ it fits and sounds good
A:-3^/7-7-5---/
E:------------/

outro
G:-----------------------/ it's around the lines of this
D:------5-5--------------/ just work it with the music
A:--33-3-3-3------33-11--/
E:-----------11-1--------/

the chorus outro riff is also played twice in the outro
just that you don't have to lead up to it, just fit 'em
in where you hear 'em.

this song is about finding your direction in life. about fucking up and then getting back on track. its a common theme in some of their songs.
