Right, this is my first tab, so i've given it my best. Im very sure the verse is right (it
wasnt very good on the other tabs either) but its just very hard to hear in the song. Try
your best to figure out how it goes, or change it to how you think it sounds best. This song
is totally astounding. it was great when they did it live at the Newcastle University
:D So anyway, Enjoy! Oh yeah, and PLEASE rate it

A very sardonic view on the party scene. "And plastic smiles miles wide match plastic cups we'll leave behind." Empty people basking in artificial, alcohol-induced happiness.

you all have part of it, i think, the heart of the song shows us that while everyone can relate to one another in their insecurities, instead they try to cover them up with alcohol, and point out things they know other people are insecure about, to make themselves feel better, this song is about those people finally realizing that everyone feels the same way, although there going through different times, with or without alcohol, but a smiling happy lonely drunk isnt really happy, he or she just has that plastic smile on their face because there too drunk to care, im not a big drinker so this song feels to me like every party ive ever been to. Theres a bunch of real people at the party, but also a shitload of fake ones that you just have to live with, the point is if the fake ones would just understand that they can be themselves without fear of being rejected then they wouldnt need the alcohol to make them feel good.

Agreed. I think the idea is that the narrator sees these people confused or down who think that drinking is going to fix their problems. But he thinks many people feel the same way and that these people aren't as alone as they think. The line that sums it up: "I guess I couldn't cure his emptiness..."

I've definately partied with all the people in this song, (Mr. Six pack of confidence, Ms. Twelve ounces of loneliness, etc...), but its not like every party is this way. It all depends on if who you party with. If you hang out with fake people, chances are that you're going to end up thinking this song is really true. But if you hang out with people who are real, then you'll just make fun of the types of people this song talks about.

I don't think it's about fake people, I think it's more about how drinking to solve your problems is a fake and plastic solution.
