I don't know about this song anymore. It sounds like a love song, but it's a bit dependent. I for one hate the thought of having an "anchor". Opposition, an anchor doesn't pick you up, they drag you down and keep you in the one spot.

This song kind of reminds me of my best friend (if he didn't live almost clear across th country right now, it would remind me more). We sort of have a special bond, each of us is there for the other when needed (well, when we're together, anyway).

This song reminds me of my friend Mary. I've been through so much and she's always been there for me to help me. She's never let me down. She means so much to me. I think this song could be interpereted in different ways. It could be about a special person like a best friend, or the person he loves. This person could have been there for him through thick & thin and helped me. They never let him down. It also sounds like it is about God. God would never leave you alone or let you go. He'll always be there to pick you up when you're down...which is what this "anchor" in the song does.
