layne1012........ this verse was prophetic, but it didnt need to be.... It infuriates me that Layne allowed himself to get that way... but you know, I can never understand a users mind, unless i become one... and if there is one message I took away from him, it was DO NOT become a user.... JBS immediately makes himself known in the opening seconds of this song with his slow melodic basslines.... everything about this song screams flow and unison..

This song most definitely describes Layne's battle with heroin, but is shown in a different light. Although it has a darkness to it, there is a bit of hope in his words. "it's time to wake up, your

WWake up young man, it's time to wake up Your love affair has got to go For 10 long years, for 10 long years The leaves to rake up Slow suicide's no way to go," Is it me or is this verse prophetic? slow suicide was the way layne went...

It`s kinda sad, because Layne is singing:"Slow suicide's no way to go, ohh..." because he ended his life on similar way.Yeah,I think it was a suicide with overdose.Read his last interwiew. It`s like suicide note in some way.it`s just my opinion...

This song is so powerful... just think, they even had it played on his funeral. Layne just wanted everyone to learn from his experiences, and "wake up" from the illusion that you can escape an addiction. Everybody who is stupid enough to do drugs should listen to this song, and be ashamed of themselves if they still call themselves good Alice in Chains or Mad Season fans. WAKE UP!

i agree with Ice about Layne's voice, you not olny hear it but you can feel it. i think that Wake Up had a few meanings, one of them being stuck in a place in life and trying to get out. you've been there long enough and the time to go is passing.

To FellONblACKdayS: It isn't proven that he died on the same day as Kurt Cobain, it is just speculated from the state of his decay.

I absolutely love this song..the music is so relaxing...but the lyrics are really sad, because Layne was being so honest with himself and telling himself that he is killing himself with drugs, and almost got through it, but they killed him in the end. Such a sad story, such talent wasted. RIP Layne

when i first heard this by then end of the song i had felt like evry emotion i have ever. it's amazing. Layne is so great there is so much feeling in his voice. this song is more then just Layne's cleaness to me, it's much more, it is kinda like a realization of something from ignorance. get it?
