Band: Marilyn Manson
Album: Holywood
Song: Born Again
Tabbed by: Matthew Cook
E-mail: Raiven14@aol.com

h = hammer-on
p = pull-off
~ = let note ring
^ = bend
x = mute

Tuning: Standard

There's a part at the start under the synth part that sounds like;

G|----------------
D|----------------
A|-----------10^--
E|-0-0-0-0-0------

Wether it's bass or not, I don't know... anyway;

"I'll put down your disco..."

G|--------------------------------------
D|----------55555555-77777777-55555555--
A|-77777777-----------------------------
E|--------------------------------------

G|--------------------------------------
D|----------55555555-77777777-77777777--
A|-77777777-----------------------------
E|--------------------------------------

I think the bass cuts out here, but if not;

G|--------------------
D|-55555555-44444444--
A|--------------------
E|--------------------

Chorus;

G|-------------------------------------
D|-------------------------------------
A|-7777777777777777-33333333-22222222--
E|-------------------------------------

G|-------------------------------------
D|-------------------------------------
A|-7777777777777777-33333333-2222------
E|-------------------------------5533--

Then you can play the very first part again, or not...

Then play;

G|--------------------------------------
D|----------55555555-77777777-55555555--
A|-77777777-----------------------------
E|--------------------------------------

G|--------------------------------------
D|----------55555555-77777777-77777777--
A|-77777777-----------------------------
E|--------------------------------------

G|--------------------
D|-55555555-44444444--
A|--------------------
E|--------------------

Then;

G|-------------------------------------
D|-------------------------------------
A|-7777777777777777-33333333-22222222--
E|-------------------------------------

G|-------------------------------------
D|-------------------------------------
A|-7777777777777777-33333333-2222------
E|-------------------------------5533--

G|-------------------------------------
D|-------------------------------------
A|-7777777777777777-33333333-22222222--
E|-------------------------------------

G|-------------------------------------
D|-------------------------------------
A|-7777777777777777-33333333-2222------
E|-------------------------------5533--

Then a small break.
Come back with;

G|-------------------------------------
D|-------------------------------------
A|-7777777777777777-33333333-22222222--
E|-------------------------------------

G|-------------------------------------
D|-------------------------------------
A|-7777777777777777-33333333-2222------
E|-------------------------------5533--

Repeat the whole above part 4 times.

Song Ends.

I don't believe in a god but I do believe in reincarnation for everything living in the universe, that life is an energy and cannot be created or destroyed. It is simply recycled in creating new life. Life, or spirits that haven't found a new body or refuse to take a new body are what we call ghosts. I see this song as him saying that he doesn't really care what he does in this life, because he knows he'll be born again.

i think the mispelled monkey part is referring to The Monkees, who as i recall originally didn't sing or play their instruments. they were basically just cute faces to sell to an audience. this entire song is about the "me-too" mentality that faux-rebels live in. a lot of manson fans think they are "demonic" and badass simply because they listen to manson. when you strip these people of all the ideas and objects their idols make, they are revealed just to be another shallow wannabe with nothing original to offer.

I think he’s mocking the so-called rebels who think they’re “cool” etc. “Do you or don't you want this to be your song? It doesn't take a rebel to sing along.” – It doesn’t make you a true rebel to “sing along”, to follow what everyone else does anyway. So by copying others, you’re not really a rebel. ”This art is weak in its pretty frame and I am a monkey with a misspelled name” – Popular stars are monkeys; their art/jobs are pathetic… “I’m someone else, I'm someone new, I'm someone stupid just like you” – Again about copying, about following, thinking you’re different when you’re not. “Do you or don't you want to take this hit? Does it make you feel like you're a part of "it."” Do you want to do drugs to be with the in crowd, just to be cool, to follow. Not really sure, just some random thoughts. Love the song anyway. Just sounds good to listen to.

with the being a rebel thing, i think that if we look at it as a "ur a try hard just coz u listen to manson and think ur rebel" and then we say that the only way u can be rebel is by doing ur own thing and having something new to offer, then really the only rebels in the world are the music artists like manson and COF and slipknot etc because no one can be them, they live in there own world where they can tell u about it, but u cant go there. Goths around the world are surposed to be rebels but they're just sheep too. they all dress the same, generally have the same interests, but the only diff thing is that they folow a diff shepard/crowd. the pop groups think there diff coz they are all like "im kooler than u coz i have all this brand gear and all these frends". once again, there not diff, they all have the same interests, they dress in the "new fashions" and they folo the "justin timberlake/ britney/ jessica simpson" crowd. The only people in the world who can be rebels are rock artists coz they set a bench mark, and average people. The kind of people who just go through life not rushing of with the latest crowd, who just take what they have coming to them, who think in there own way, who dress in there own way with out conforming, who generally just dont give a flying fuck about all the latest trends or all the most out there things. i think that is what the song is trying to tell us. that really, no matter how we change, what we beleive, no matter what we say, were all goin to die, were all goin to one place and one place only. I dont know if that made sense, but thats what i think, what about u?

to be a proper rebel is to do what u wanna do. not what people tell you to do or copy what others do. if you think your a rebel because you do what everyone else does, you're not because you r following rules

Manson was quoted saying "I started to learn that everything that’s considered a sin is what makes you a human being. All the seven deadly sins are man’s true nature. To be greedy. To be hateful. To have lust. Of course, you have to control them." the line The valley of the dolls is the valley of the dead...refers to the movie valley of the dolls which 3 women fall into the celebrity lifestyle "trap". I believe the chrous is saying that, according to born again Christians, you will burn in hell unless you are 'born again'. That God has no problem with sending a sinner to hell. I believe Manson is saying that although you might think you're a better person now (the born again...), in the end they are the same as everyone else.

I think it means that eventhough you want to be born again and start fresh and new you are still just you another person in a sea of billions ........to me valley of the dolls is the valley of the dead means if you are "hollywood" you are in the valley of the shadow of death (that is Psalm 23) and you can't be "Hollywood" and be ok with God. By hollywood I mean all that it entails, never enough money, never enough anything ......greed is your god wealth is your master. Man cannot have 2 masters he will love one and hate the other you can not be a slave to God and a slave to money it will never work........WAKE UP PREACHERS did you hear what I said????? MAN CANNOT HAVE 2 MASTERS WHO DO YOU SERVE????
