You know, you all should quit debating about Manson and instead debate about the meaning of the song. This is, after all, songmeanings.net. This song, the way I see it, is sort of a tribute to Bowie, one of Manson's heroes. There are several allusions to Bowie songs (two that I can identify, but I'm told there are more). For example, the chorus is a play on that in "Cracked Actor." "This isn't music and we're not a band/We're five middle fingers on a motherfucking hand" is a take on "D.J.", in which Bowie sings "I am a DJ, I am what I play/Can't turn around no, can't turn around."

Holy crap, you just solved a huge mystery for me. I knew that Vodevil meant the one that you mentioned. And I've been trying to look it up forever but I had no idea how to spell it. THANK YOU!

i think song is absolutely awesome. Apparently it was written while he was on a plane and the image that the Marilyn Manson band emit when they walk through the airport, sort of a F-you attitude. I can remember a time when i completely related to this song.

Great liyric for a pretty lame song. The sound effects and guitars are good actually, but there is something missing in this record, something that makes it boring. Maybe it's just Manson getting older and losing the capability of making original art. Just like Nietzche said....

Marilyn Manson knows that he needs a break from all the antichrist shit cos though it was good, there was only one message to it. I AM GOD AND YOUR ALL GONNA DIE. Mechanical animals, holy wood and the golden age of grotesque contained so many messages about religion drugs, sex and being used.

What does vodevil mean? Is it just a weird way of spelling vaudeville? What does vaudeville have to do with this song? Is it just randomly put in here because it’s similar to burlesque, a theme Manson seems to be fascinated by?

You should like Manson for his music, not just his appearance. He's not making music for you, he does it for himself. Beside's he'll probably change next CD, he always does, I mean, come on, he covered "Personal Jesus" for his new greatest hits, that's definetly not 1930's depression (1 theme of GAOGT).
