weird breakdown:
g|--------------------------------------------|
d|--------------------------------------------|
a|---------5b-6b-9b---------5b---9b---11b-----|
e|-0-----------------0------------------------|
(this isn’t the exact way but its just bending notes on the A-string)
fast breakdown part:
g|-----------------|
d|-----------------|
a|-----------------| x4
e|-3h5-3h5-5-5-5-5-|
g|--------|
d|--------|
a|--------| x4
e|--5-5-5-|
g|--------------------|
d|--------------------|
a|--------------------|
e|-3h5-3h5-5-5-5-5/12-|
( the slide to the 12 is necessary as it is the guitar,I just like playing it)
play the breakdown parts for the rest of the song, except at end play
E-00-------00-0-0-0-00------00-----00-----00-0-0-0------00----00---00-0-0--
i'm pretty sure on most of this, the wierd breakdown thing isn't to complicated,
all you need to do is slide and bend strings around that 5.
The ending parts(not the techno parts) are all just the fast breakdown parts so
i didn't bother putting them in

| I've only recently gotten into the Mars Volta but I'm really digging this one. I don't really get what they're doing with the "pig" and "sheep" parts (farm animal motif?), cuz there's kind of a story behind the De-Loused album, right? but anyway, Cedric's delivery really fits the desparation and drunken confused-ness in this one. | |

| this is an amazing song but everything about the mars volta is so complicated and heavily built upon. so much so that the music hardly has a pattern and the lyrics are close to meaningless. that is no criticism though, it's the best thing about tmv. this song is breathtaking and it is a perfect example of how music has evolved to blur the boundaries of genre. | |

| I like your idea. It makes sense seeing as each song is like a chapter Son Et Lumiere/Inertiatic ESP - Cerpin attempting suicide The Haunt Of Roulette Dares - In The Ambulance Tira Me A Las Arenas/Drunkship - In The Hospital | |

| their dissonance in most of their songs actually bothers me a little... i mean they're good, but you have to feel like listening to them. while televators is my favorite song on the album, drunkship was a close second. | |

| this song is about the man's dreamworld and all the un-realistic and ridiculous events he comes across. it is right before he gets out of his coma, he starts to realize where he is and becomes deranged. | |

| In the book, at this point, Cerpin is in an abandoned sub floating around in the middle of nowhere. Theres other abandoned subs and military planes and shit crashing all around and serious storms happening outside. He stays in the sub for shelter while he is searching for someone else and/or an exit to this place. He can hear muted voises systematically like every couple of minutes, but they dont seem to be coming from anywhere. I have the most trouble connecting the book to this song. If it wasnt for the book, I would have almost no interpretaions of this song. So confusing.... | |

| I like what i.am.harriet said about, "this song is breathtaking and it is a perfect example of how music has evolved to blur the boundaries of genre". Whenever someone asks me what kind of music the mars volta play, I'm always like, "Uh... well... I don't really know." But that's what makes them so awesome. These guys just give 'er and make the craziest, creepiest music I've ever heard. The first time I listened to this album I got such chills....There's so many times in a lot of the songs where I'll just shiver because the music is so fantastic... It's so good it makes me ill.... | |
