| It sounds like it is about Julio Venegas and how he killed himself. Seems he jumped off a building, the lines "Wrapped in the asphalt that cushioned his face" and "you should have seen the curse that flew right by you, pages of concrete." They even say on their site that the "story" of the album ends tragically when the person it is about ends up killing himself. It's an amazing song though, my second favorite on the album. | |

| Sinece the album is abot julio and his different journeys this song as interpreted by e is about his burial the televaors are taking him into the ground. This song is referring to his funeral and his casket is being lowered to the ground. | |

| The comments about this albumn being about Julio are accurate, at the drive-in put out a song called 'ebroglio' which was about Julio. The members of the mars volta wanted to do more than just a song. What the hell is up with them selling the lyrics? | |

| the entire album is conceptual, its about the live and times of Julio, only its about him being in a coma and all of the insane dreams and fantasy adventures he embarked on... thats why a lot of it doesn't make sense. they're trying to give you an idea of a complete dream world where their best friend played the lead role. | |

| i thought it was a 'room coulored charlatan' because a charlatan is a sneaky thief type and if he was room coulored you wouldn't see him. But the lyrics different i think. Nice song, but i wonder who had the shit job of recording those bird sounds. | |
