| At first, and especially after reading the Deloused in the Comatorium storybook the first time, I thought Cedric Bixler was a very talented singer, but basically a hack writer. It seemed like he tried to cover up bad writing by being incomprehensible. I still don't quite think he's a great writer, but the more I read these lyrics, and Deloused, the more bits of genius I find hidden in what always appeared to be nonsense. For example. The lines "All my life I've been sewing the wounds, but the seeds sprout a lachrymal cloud." I love how the phrase "sewing the wounds" has a double meaning; sewing as in stitching, or healing, the wounds--or sewing as in planting, or creating the wounds. The same word can have two directly opposite meanings. Another thing I've been thinking about, there are an awful lot of references to birds (feathers, talons, wing, etc.), it seems, and I wonder if it has anything to do with what nuclearjesus said earlier about the constellation cygnus representing zeus, who in swan form raped Leda. | |

| The constellation Cygnus supposedly represents, in Greek mythology, the swan form taken by Zeus when he raped Leda. Leda gave birth to twins, who are represented by the constellation Gemini. Take that as you will. | |

| In case this hasn't been posted before: Sarcophagi- "The ocean floor is hidden..." to "The seeds sprout a lachrymal cloud" Umbilical Syllables- " Niņo preparate" to "Will they feed us the womb" Facilis Descenus Averni - "Bring me this plague" to "There sweats a cut" The chorus here ("who do you trust?") transitions to Con Safo, which is the rest of the song, and has no lyrics. | |

| Facilis Descensus Averni (not quite the same spelling as on the CD cover but in my opinion, close enough) is latin for "the easy descent into Lake Avernus". These words are also found in one of Poe's works, and I found out that Lake Avernus is near Cumae, the reputed entrance to the underworld (http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Corridor/4220/latin.html) Sarcophagi is the plural of sarcophagus, which is a stone coffin. The word's original greek meaning (eating flesh) has to do with the fact that the limestone was thought to decompose the body inside it. (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=sarcophagus) When I googled "Con Safo" I ended up at a site about Chicano art, and having just learned the relevance of the term "Chicano" on this site, I got excited. The site I found says that Con Safo is an expression used on murals and other works that requested respect for Chicano art. (http://www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/articles/view/CC/kjc4.html) Hope you guys find this helpful or at least interesting! | |

| I think it important to recognize the fact that this song is comprised of four movements. The first, Sarcophagi, ends after the line "A lachrymal cloud." I believe Umbilical Syllables ends after "Bring me, bring me this plague." I'm not sure, but I think the last movement, Con Safo, doesn't have any lyrics, thus making the lyrics from "Bring me, bring me this plague" until the end a part of Facilis Descenus Averni. The third movement's name seems Latin to me; am I alone? | |

| First off can anybody translate the spanish? I'm dumb and not bi-lingual. Second the only difference that I got was in the third verse and that was "Five Hundred Little Cumes" as in "Five Hundred People Watching" but maybe I'm wrong. Cause to me it sounds like an abortion is either being performed or has been by the end of the song, but something isn't right and it's still alive, hense "an abortion that survived" and "will they feed us the womb". And does anybody else have a opinion or answer to all the smoking references throughout the album? "Those nicotine stains" and "A wrinkle hand in mine" cause when people smoke they get that drawstring bag look around the mouth and what not. And as for nicotine stains obviously that's referring to the smoker's hands, clothes, teeth, hair, etc. I'd love to hear anybody else's opinion on all of this. Thanks | |

| I'd bet instead of Boy prepare yourself, it was meant more in the context of an infant, being that Nino can be used to mean a baby boy. The last section, seems more to me to be himself explaining how he (Cygnus) can feel the "cut" "sweat" under his "blanket". in other words, something nagging at him deeply, contrary to what he's doing at that point. Either, fear of finding the truth, or fear or not finding the truth, I'm not entirely sure. | |
