| I'm the worst at decicphering lyrics... but "This apparatus..." is Julio commiting suicide... he's destroying the world (himself), the apparatus... I think. "Televators" is almost like a requiem mass for Julio, a third-person perspective on his life, and its impact after death. Then "Take the veil" takes us back to Julio's spirit, phlegmatic (slow and decrepit), and tortured. Cedric even mentioned in an interview that if Julio['s spirit] is in another world, and he seems lost, that this album will be like a beacon for him. So in the end, "Who brought me here, forsaken deprived and wrought with fear? Who turned it off? The last thing I remember now..." Maybe the guys believe in reincarnation. I remember I wrote a song called "Lurking In THe Dark," which was a song to follow one about suicide... the suicide song was about someone who commits suicide blindly, and as they begin to die, there's no resolve, and they regret it, then "Lurking" was the song about being dead, the solitary lonliness, and cold darkness of the afterlife, because no one can come with you. It's almost parallel to this (even though the suicide song was written before I heard Mars Volta, but I wanted to work on my own death and afterlife album... when it drew too close to TMV's work, though nowhere near as good, or as musically genius, I scrapped the idea, and threw the "Lurking" song out the window... it was too cold, but the Suicide song still has its own impact... This is one of my favorite albums of all time, it's one of my only addictions in life, and Frances the Mute is a bitchin piece of work as well. P.S.: I hope I didn't sound too much like I was plugging my stuff, but I was just drawing comparisons on morbid music, and where I can relate to it on a songwriting level. | |

| never bothered with the lyrics since i think the musicians of the band are all more talented then Cedric. but anyway, i really like the whole song, but especially after it slows down, right before the last verse. | |
