Not exactly a very hard song to tab out, but it has some very fun

Actually this song isn't about religion or anything like that. This song is about pizza. And the rest of the album is all about various italian food. They made the record when they were really hungry. I kid, I kid. The only strong theme I can get out of everything is the use of "she" from the first song weaved through seems the only consistent thing to me as an evil spirit.

The entire album isnt about religion as some have said. I'm sure that there is some religious songs on here, but not all. Here is the bio from www.themarsvolta.com, only the section about the new album: The resultant Amputechture, the third album by The Mars Volta, marks the first time Omar and Cedric have created a work without a single unifying narrative. The essential creative process remained the same: Omar creating the music (including the horn sections) for Cedric to lyricize—but this time with the freedom to document unrelated stories, vignettes, inside jokes, various people, events memories… All in all, Cedric likens the experience alternately to the compartmentalized episodes of Rod Serling’s NIGHT GALLERY or the disparate plotlines of David Lynch’s TWIN PEAKS: Storylines not necessarily linear or in any way connected, but all told in the same voice.

"crown of maggots" it remind me of the devil , so as "venom in numerical eyes" ... but some parts reminds me of Jesus too .. about the lady in the lyrics ... might be his mother .... or not ..

Actually "viscera" is the plural of "viscus." Im still trying to interpret this album for myself. This song has to be the most confusing of the whole album. There are deep religious overtones throughout, but what exactly Omar and Cedric are trying to say is still beyond me. There are quite a few references to the crucifiction of Christ and other important events. Anyways, back to this song; i wonder who the speaker is and who he/she is talking to. Also i find the lines: They scalp our children by seven The border we're watching Where the other three now hide The culprits can't be seen from a premium of glass We shudder in this sigil then you carpe diem-tize to be oddly specific while the rest of the song seems less concrete. Finally i wonder who the female figure mentioned in the last lines of the song is. Perhaps this would all be easier if i actually knew some religious history. I dont see how all of this says that religion is crap or that TMV has a beef with the chirch. Perhaps if someone would explain it to me....

This is directly from the Cd booklet. Por quando te vi enfermo con mentiras Este ladron cuenta se dio Trapa mal hecho de trampas te lo juro que yo si te mato Y con cada dia que se pase recuerdate Quien era el mas poderoso Don't let me, Don't let me go There is a venom in numerical lies Your convalescent thorns Are but a crown of magnets They fold the shakes inside that third glass eye Come on and give it to me Come on and die In your viscera eyes Cataracts close the blinds Let me let comfort come drown by your side Hay mi hija no me llores porque te quito de esta cruz A noche te vi caminando sin la alma de tu cuerpo En los brasos sin luz stains fall into the brick wall severed four of them were watching while the other three did hide the culprit spat the seed from the pdium of glass shattering the sigil that you thought was deitized Don't let me, Don't let me go there is a venom in numerical lies your convalescent thorns are but a crown of magnets they rot the shakes inside that third glass eye come on and give it to me come on and die In your viscera eyes cateracts close the blinds let me let comfort come drown by your side Wait I've seen the ark shake from your mnemonic tongue But the braille that you weave of itself ,it shall read aloud Yes it will I said, she's falling, she's still falling But no one wants to come She's crawling, she's still crawling On your burial ground

i think the chorus goes "in your viscera eyes, cataracts close the blinds" not "Cut the lights Close the blinds"

I think the first time "Upon a crown of maggots" comes up he says "Upon a crown of magnets" but thats probably just how it sounds.
