| why in the hell was this band not featured on this website before i put it up here? Shame on you people!seriously though, I dont have the time, so please contribute more lyrics. This band defintely needs more recognition. Anyways, you could see this song for what it sounds like(a human replacing his body parts with those of a machine in order to be the savior for this generation, sort of using things that are of this era, such as replacing the crown of thorns with blades and the like as tools of causing pain), but I see it as a song against religion. It suggests that biblical figures and anything related to religion plant ideas into peoples heads, kinda like brain washing. Cult leaders do the same thing. Most sensible people know that cults are absurd. Shouldn't organized religion be viewed the same way? I think so. At least thats my view on this song. | |

| Fools. Like EVERY Meshuggah song it's about the human condition. This song is literally about a man tearing himself apart and rebuilding himself into an ultrahuman cyborg/robot so that he can withstand all and lead the pathetic humanity (that they speak of in every song on Chaosphere worthless and oblivious) into the new age....robotic humans. (i know it's a cyborg leave me be) They speak of every part exchanged and give the reasons for the change and tell that becoming cybernetic makes people light in a dark world. Self made gods diefied by self torture---it's completely straightforward why must people ALWAYS assume there are metaphors involved? | |

| Somewhat refreshing, adamizer - however, my aim was not to criticize your choice of words, but rather your far-from-constructive inference. Calling my fellow plebeians "Fools" - by warrant of your epiphanic discovery of the human condition and its prevalence within Meshuggah lyrics, no less! I suppose "What song doesn't reflect the human condition?" would have sufficed, but what of fun?! Us plebeians love to consult our Social Studies textbooks if only to spite the intelligent and perfect freaks! As for my choice of words, must I point out the irony of such a criticism? Consider the nature of this forum. | |

| i don't know about this being their best song... it doesn't really reveal their talent that much, but it has a great groove to it, there arn't that many polyrythmics/metrics that i so love from meshuggah, but still a great song non-the-less. The phrasing is incredible and i cant wait till more people can accept talent over popularity......but the song is distinctly going over how religions (like christianity) have been distorted by humans so that they may reach out (in non-offensive ways) to others, which shadows the truth, causing (spiritual) death for those that belive in the falsities and errancies. Just as the Bible (christ), is distorted by the translations and interpritations of today(new-millenium), which, if not followed will lead to death (cyanide).......there yah go simple and basic | |

| I love Meshuggah - For me, (and it's hard for me to say because I'm Catholic) this song is about how religious figures such as Christ gradually become less and less "human" and moreso "divine" over time through distortion of fact as the legend is passed down by word of mouth. | |

| evolution of the human race. instead of genetically evolving he chooses to rush himself to what he would believe to be superior. That being machines. And he'll show everyone the path they should take as well by showing them what he can do with his new form and how it's the way everything should be. I don't really see this as a religion blow, more just using christ as a metaphor. Though I don't really see them as your standard christian rock band as in the video there's a phrase about satan written on a wall. But I don't see this as a religion song. | |

| they are getting a lot of recognition for a death metal band, they were at the fucking ozzfest. not saying they dont deserve more, but this is a huge step for death metal, and meshuggah. the band that needs more recognition is fredrik thordendal's special defects. best song by meshuggah in my opinion. | |

| i dunno adamizer... there might be a little more to it than that. Even though the song is about destroyign and rebuilding oneself such that that are immune to the horrors of this world.... there has to be more. Every great peice of literary work, song, poem, book, whatever has some other meaning besides the stated facts. If it does not, it is not great, and i hope to assume that this is infact, a great song. Not only does it have the whole images of ripping appart the body to solve problems.... but look at a few of the things that are done. Covering the Ears so that nothign can be heard. Removing the eyes so nothing can be seen. Rendering the mouth useless so that nothing can be said. Then they go on to say "Humans, once astray; made divine" What does this possibly mean. It can mean only one thing, humans suck ass, and the only way we can be devine, great, whatever, is by making ourselves completly opposite of what we are now. But then again adamizer, take everything to is literal meaning, and enjoy life ;). | |

| Not their best song, but still a great groove....it lacks the oh-so-common polyrythmics/metrics that we all come to love in Meshuggah....the song clearly states in it's lyrics and title.....(CHRIST) the bible, (NEW-MILLENIUM)is how the bible is missinterpereted, and conformed to meet the demands of the populus of today.(CYANIDE) is how when people follow the falsities and errancies of the bible they will die (spiritualy) because they have distorted "GODS" true words.....just like reading the wrong set of directions will mess up your project! | |

| Hey, pleb (nightfly), this forum is to give your thoughts on lyrical content, not address other peoples words. However, since you started it, I'll adress your ultrascripted bullshit. You sound like a total ass, young fella. Upraise? How about lift, or raise? You're really reaching for that one. And bourgeois? Come on now....are you some socialist revolutionary circa 1905? I sound elite cause' I'm intelligent and I'm the perfect freak, not because I think about my post and then consult my social studies book. Finally, does it really take ANY sort of capacity to state the "blatantly obvious"? I recall mentioning that it was lyrically straightforward so please don't act like I was acting haughty when I added a phrase meant soley to address the ease of the situation. | |

| heres something that bothers me a lot. not about this band, but about you people. meshugah is fuckin crazy. i love this shit. i also like linkin park and deadsy, and for that guy up there who called me a pussy... your fucking retarded. im a fucking pussy for liking some softer bands and bands like this? whats your fucking problem. i like a variety of music, and many different styles, and just because i like something that you dont, doesnt make me a pussy. second, who really gives a fuck if this band is being pushed away by other bands with less talent. maybe people like the other bands more because they are easier to handle and that is very udnerstandable. really, who gives a fuck? you know who meshuggah is, so does it really matter if it comes on the radio? no it doesnt. so i think you should stop complaining about that shit, and just talk about the song like your suppost to do on here, and let other people like the kind of music they like, alright? | |
