Well I think that it's about slowing down into first gear and putting life into perspective. I guess James life wasout of his control for a while and he had to backup a second and grasp control

"Don't you leave me Father Time Take me with you" This is about death, Father Time decides when to take people and the guy wants to die. In the rest of the song he is on about struggling to live as "touch me so I think I'm here" and "barely breathing" suggest.

Yeah dorepoll's right, on the back of the CD and DVD it's entitled "-Human". Exactly like that, a minus sign with no space, so we're all commenting on the wrong song title XD

to me, becuase hetfield grew up in a strict relgious household, and wasnt religious himself, hes gone back to that life, where religion is breathed and feated, and that "breathe man breath", is hetfield himself trying to break away from it all.

Come on? All these tallicats and metalheads and nobody comments on Minus Human? Oh well... I don't really see any underline, hidden meanings worth debating, but hey, you have to admit it sounds cool. Pretty much. Yup. ...And I'm spent.

kerby - i care. This song is very interesting. I think it's about losing your humanity to the mindless of everydaylife. I think "air" here means thoughts, dreams etc. But then i'm a 15 year old. So much for that..

I'm not gonna guess as to what the lyrics mean, all I know is this is a loose, raw, heavy, ugly song, and I love it. Just kick back and let the raw power blast yer ears out, that's my philosphy.

the "father" and "sun" has something to with Christianinty, as light is the way forward, and father as in God. he gets stressed with the idea, and so needs air to calm himself down. hence the ugly riff.
