	Eagle, man, listen to this song. That is why Metallica would cover a song like this, lyrics are secondary. Also, this is originally by Diamond Head.

	Niccolo Machiavelli wrote a Paper called "The Prince." In the writing it more or less says that a political ruler must surrender his morals and ethics in order to be a successful leader. So Whiplash was more or less right... just left that some detail

	This is a song about people who betray their moral/ethical/religious etc. beliefs for material possessions. Just because the song is in first person doesn't necessarily mean the song is about the person singing it. A also think Metallica covered this song because of it's kick ass instrumentals not because of the lyrics.
