Subject : BTAB: Metallica - Kill 'em all
From: wfpol@cs.ruu.nl (Wilbert Pol)
The people who transcribed it :
Jeff Jacobson - Anesthesia - Pulling Teeth
Andy Aledort - Jump in the Fire
Steve Gorenberg - the rest
The only thing I've done is converting them to ascii.
I've put all note lengths below the measures, they are :
w - whole note
h - half note
q - quarter note
e - eigth note
s - sixteenth note
t - thirty-second note
l - long note ('fermate' sign)
x+y - play note with length x+y
/ - a couple of these mean you have to fill the length with
1. eight notes (1 slash) or
2. sixteenth notes (2 slashes) or
3. thirty-second notes (3 slashes)
R - in the tab denotes a rest.
x - an undefined or muted note.
[ 3 ] - a triplet
/ - slide up
/(X) - slide up to fret X, but don't pick X
- slide down
(X) - slide down to fret X, but don't pick X
T - tap note
Harm - harmonic
A.H. - Artificial harmonic
inside bar :
p - pull off
h - hammer on
bx - bend string x notes up
bx r - bend string x notes up and release string
a note without a length indication, means a 'ghost' note (The little notes
that occur in sheet music sometimes).
cresc. - crescendo (Play louder and louder, 'fade in')
||-- --||
||-o o-|| - a repeat
||-o o-||

| Few things to clear up. 1. This song was originally performed by Blitzkrieg, not Diamond Head. You can download an mp3 from their website (www.blitzed-alive.com), and if you think this is by Diamond Head, you are clearly an idiot, as on hearing the original it's bloody obvious. When Blitzkrieg play it live these days, Brian Ross replaces the lyric 'Aliens calling' to 'Metallica's calling', as the royality payments have helped him keep the band going. And they are bloody good. 2. The song is about an alien invasion, not the Nazis, it was as far as I know deemed a suitable word. Or at least this is an explanation that allows them to play in Germany more often, after problems with this in the mid 1990s. 3. The definitive version? The one on Blitzkrieg's 1985 album, A Time of Changes. | |

| Blitzkrieg is the art of warfare where you attack rapidly, penetrating the enemy lines and crushing his armies before he can react, hitting him with both tanks and aircraft, leaving the slowmoving infantry to mop up the remains -history buff | |

| Exp- you must be pretty retarded yourself, or unable to read the notes on album sleeves. Metallica covered "Helpless", "It's Electric", "Am I Evil?" and "The Prince" by Diamond Head. Blitzkrieg recorded this song and released it as the b-side on their 1981 single "Buried Alive". Either you have misread something or are just stupid; whichever it is, I am right and you're not. | |

| yeah realised that after i wrote that...got confused with scorched earth...sorry! well it is still lightning war...so perhaps its saying that when armageddon comes it'll be too fast for us to do anything...thats why we gotta see if we'll survive, cos we wont be able to fight it...which would follow with the whole doomsday thing huh... or, another thought, maybe they use "lightning war" cos of the whole natures fury thing...perhaps saying that when the end comes, it will be because of nature self-destructing, rather than anything us humans do... | |
