| child soldiers is an interestin interprettion. rebel bass, i like beans' comment should be under either call of ctulu or the thing which should not be both of which were inspired by H.P.Lovecraft, one of the best horror writers of all time imo. Anyway i think this song is intended to be a wake up call for the youth to arise from the innocence of youth and see whats really going on and accept their destiny. The key lines are thus: Big eyes to open soon Believing all under the sun and moon and Will this earth be good to you? Keep you clean or stain through? and furthermore: Artists > Metallica > Where The Wild Things Are Submitted by fennsk on May 28, 2001 So wake up sleepy one It's time to save your world The middle bit is interesting in itself. it's a description of a child's play which involves toys fighting. I'm not sure of the significance as such at this moment though. Any thoughts? Also this song reminds me of primus | |

| I think it's about child soldiers. It all fits, and the "toy soldiers off to war" part makes it quite obvious, I think. Hand puppets storm the beach Fire trucks trapped out of reach All clowns reinforce the rear Slingshots fire into the air Stuffed bears hold the hill till death Crossfire from marionettes We shall never surrender! Also, this part is obviously about war with children. | |

| There's actaully a children's book called "Where the wild things are" The song could have something to do with the book as it's a story about a boy who goes to bed and goes to the land of the wild things and had to fight them. So where the song says "So close your little eyes" could be meaning the children to go to the land of the wild things and save their world. Which is all just a dream and in it the little boy is using his "toy soldiers" and "robot chessmen£ to help him. | |

| I think it's about how as kids we grow up with wars around us, and we play games of wars with our toys, and later in life many teenagers don't seem to realise how serious it is. i've known many friends who have been dead pumped up to join the army when they left school to go and protect the country, as if they still think it's a game. They're where the wild things are, cos they are in the battlefield that they obviously aren't ready for. I love the way the song almost sounds like a lullaby, and it's very dream like in the sounds of the riffs, very atmospheric. Makes you think of children dreaming of their toys marching to war. I think Reload was a very underrated album, and it had some very good songs on it, some of my favourite in fact, like this one, memory remains, carpe diem baby and fixxxer. | |
