I'm very very certain this is how Cliff played it. By what I can see on the show on Cliff'em 
All the only parts that should be off (if at all) is the solo and the chorus. It kinda sounds 
to me that he uses an overdrive/distortion pedal, turns the bass up on his amp, or uses 
the overdrive channel on his amp.
