| One Flew Over the Cuckoos nest seems a bit too soft of a movie for a Metallica song, doesnt it?.. It would make more sense if the song was about the book, which instead takes the point of view of the indian who only pretends to be deaf and dumb. He does this because he doesn't want to conform with the rest of the institute or anyone else. Makes sense. | |

| I'm surprised so few people posted about this song. Anyway, bottom line is that this is one of the most quintessential Metallica songs of all time, and every single solo in it fits the mood of the song as best as it seemingly could. The dynamics of the playing also come out very well. One of my favorite songs of all time, without a doubt. | |

| This is a great song. I really do think it is about a crazy person, not one wrongly accused of being crazy. "....your dream is my reality....". To me, that means that in a normal person's dream, their's can be as weird as it is. But the crazy person's real life is that weird. He/she imagines all that strange stuff and thinks it's real. | |

| I think some people are interpreting this song a little too figuratively when it should be read more literaly. People with mental "issues" are getting more and more agitated by the conditions in their institution and are on the edge of revolt. A nice angry theme perfect for a song of this caliber and great lyrics to complement this very excellent song. Of course there are some symbolic parallels you can draw about being repressed by society and all, but the case for symbolism isn't as obvious as in the title track Master of Puppets. | |

| My point of view : the song is a confession from a man who lives in a society where he's misunderstood and where if he tries to think against society's will he becomes a sort of an outcast. They try to send him 'straight' boycotting him blaming him for things that aren't true labeling him 'mentally deranged' . He takes refuge in his own world of dreams 'Sleep my friend and you will see That dream is my reality' he wishes the world would be a better place to be. in his mind he creates a revolution, which is bound to fail . It's a cry for help ,unheard by anyone. Also bears some resemblance to 'The Unforgiven'. | |
