I think it may be the B-side to a single from 'Building Nothing Out of Something', but I can't prove it... I think its about feeling different or cast out from people around you and/or feeling different from others because they are more vain and not as introspective.

If you stand in a circle Then you'll all have a back to bite (Back?) long books on the 7 wonders We're all so funny but he's lost his joke now Our communications come from one lined joke From stand up comics and a rock musicians Making so much noise you don't know when to listen ---------------------------------------------------------- definitely my favorite part of the song, it comes at about 3:58 in the song. I try, but cant get over being completely amazed at Issac Brock

I have always had this song on my comp. for a while..after listening to it once..i wanted to figure out how to play it. The intstrumental part blew me away..isaac not trying to impress..but just sounding awesome..nothing to complicated. This song was the easiest way to describe..me. .. No one seems to like this MM aspect (lyrically that is) that much..Specially since i go to..a private school full of kids who like the regular mainstream music, being in middle school and all. Now as interstate 8 hangs on my wall is something i tresure the most..Well..i dunno..all i can say is modest mouse is awesome and so is this song. It helps me think that the world is hopeless..yet is kinda reasuring that even under all the pressure you can still have fun and make the most o' life .

It is by far the biggest understatement to call Issac Brock the greatest lyricist ever. He says everything we wish we could and embodies the lonliness and isolation that we feel in everyday lives and puts it into his own metaphors and turns things we normally see as dark into masterpieces. This is by far his best work for the first lines alone. We have all felt like that but never have been able to say it.

this song is amazing, even without words this song would be incredible. Modest mouse has an unparalled authenticity than expresses every kind of musical talent that could be performed. I have never heard a song so great with so much meaning and passion.

I know several other people have already said this but I must agree that those first four lines of this song are like the story of my life. The kinda ironic thing about that is that the person who turned me on to Modest Mouse is the person that I feel that way about. Anyway, great song.

i think this song is just about wanting to "edit" or get rid of all the sad parts of your life.

I think the chorus of the song is about a relationship where the couple is always talking, but never knows what to talk about... The verses are about being sad and frustrated.

Interstate 8 features two versions of this song-- one is live and closes the EP. The other one separates the last studio song from the live cuts, and for that reason has two minutes of silence.

the first lines of this song make the song so great. it also makes a lot of sense...don't judge a book by its cover, so the cliche goes. good stuff.

I just got back from Phoenix, and the other night I was walking through the mall at like 9:45, right before they closed. All the wannabe teenage pimps were gone, as were most people, the mall was pretty empty. I just looked around and saw happy couples, like ages 23-26 or whatever, and I'm thinking "damn I sure miss that" as me and my girlfriend had just broken up a few days before. I walk into Industrial (skateshop, for those of you who don't know) and no ones in there, and I'm walking around and all of the sudden I hear: "Sometimes all I really want to feel is love Sometimes I'm angry that I feel so angry Sometimes my feelings get in the way Of what I really feel I needed to say" How ironic is that...

This song is almost everything I love about Modest Mouse rolled into one song. The fuck-emo-bright-eyez-sucks dude is silly because Bright Eyes is further removed from emo than Modest Mouse. I think 'Sad Sappy Sucker' has an early 90's emo vibe about it...

My favorite MM song rite now. It reaminds my of 3rd planet sometimes. I love the guitar at the end. and especially the lyrics: "I made my shoes shine with my coal But my polish didn't shine the hole"
