| Well, what I see in this song is.... There is the guy that is the bad influence. The pornographer, he took her to a club. Everybody was happy and pro'lly on drugs. ("Everybody was feeling fine.") She felt good too, ingorant to the fact that the male figure in the song was going to try and take advantage of her. She proceeded to do some herion. Then the guy worked his charm. ("You are so hot, I would like to steal your digits. ...we are so cuaght up in things. I think we should pull eachother's triggers.") When the club is closing it's time for them to leave. She's pro'lly coming down and she regrets the whole thing. She doesn't know whats happening in her life, and where she is going. ("I'm on the road to god don't know.") Thats just what I get out if it. | |

| The ending instrumental part is amazing. It has that potential of creating such images in people's head. I can easily imagine an empty socialy drowned guy dressed with a tie and some clean clothes trying to climb up some endless dusty stairs, hopelessly. I love MM's instrumentals songs. | |

| Anyone think it could be related to the Lounge off of Lonesome Crowded West? That the guy and the girl in Lonesome's song are the same guy and girl in Long Drive's song? I think Lonesome's "Lounge" makes references to dancing and partying, and so does this song. I think this was a precursor to the other one, but that's just me. | |

| isaac brock met the woman frequently referred to at a club. he left drove her in his white suit and baby blue sedan and fucked her. he had himself a crazy lover, becoming frozen ttying hard o forget her, i've got a girlfriend out of the city i know i like her i think she is pretty. isaac brock, i believe, (the grooms down o me cuz he ate the rice, it was well intentioned but bad advice) witnessed this woman getting married and it fucked him up cuz he loved her so much. so this song describes the sex after the club where he met her | |

| yeah, i think this song is alot like what "rr2k" said. wiht the herion adn the "porcupine" symbolising the needle. it makes a lot of sence. i interpret as just one big party scene with drugs and sex adn she doesnt care. if erveryone knew he was a pornographer and didnt tell her doesnt that say that society no longer cares for individules? we have gotten so scared that were going to harm eachother that we no longer help eachother. | |

| yeah my friend called me up really excited one night and he was all, "DUDE modest mouse predicted donnie darko" and he showed me the lyrics and it was funny. he was kidding but it is odd the way you can compare the lyrics to the movie. at least the line about number on his forearm spelling disaster. stefan really nailed it though, perfect explanation. | |

| I find two interpretations....i find one to be Heroine use, or another injection drug....hence described by other people on this page....but my interpretation....is using someone for sex....Syllable lisp-drunk....The twist-sex....pornographer....idk....that was my first thought, but when i read the comments about heroine use, it did work...... | |
