The other tab is pretty much right, I'm just counting it out to make it easier...

Intro (Played twice)
G ---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|
D ---- ---- ---- ----|5--- --4- ---- 5---|---- ---- ---- ----|5--- ---- ---- ----|
A 3--- --2- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|3--- --2- --0- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|
E ---- ---- ---- 3---|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- 3---|---- ---- ---- ----|

Verse (Played twice)
G ---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|5--- --2h 4-2- 0---|---- ---- ---- ----|
D ---- ---- ---- ----|5--- --4- ---- 5---|---- ---- ---- ----|5--- --2h 4-2- 0---|
A 3--- --2- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|
E ---- ---- ---- 3---|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|

Chorus (Played twice)
G 5--- 5--- 5h70 4---|2--- 2--- 2h4- 0---|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|
D ---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---2 ----|---- 5--- 22-2 5---|5h73 -3-- 33-3 3---|
A ---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|3--- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|
E ---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|

Next comes the verse (twice), then there's just drums and vocals, followed by Chorus
twice, then drums and vocal session, followed by a different version of the Verse...

Verse v.2 (Played twice)
G ---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|4--- --5- ---- 7---|0--- ---- ---- 0---|
D ---- ---- ---- ----|5--- --4- ---- 5---|---- ---- ---- ----|---- --4- ---- ----|
A 3--- --2- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|
E ---- ---- ---- 3---|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|

G ---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|4--- --5- ---- 7---|9--- --7- ---- 4---|
D ---- ---- ---- ----|5--- --4- ---- 5---|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|
A 3--- --2- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|
E ---- ---- ---- 3---|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|---- ---- ---- ----|

The song finishes with the Chorus again

I've seen the music video and the bassist plays all the G and D stuff high on the E and A cords,
but I made it this way for easy reading, so deal with it! I encourage you to use these notes
and learn it on the E and A cords, it sounds much smoother. Congrats, you've made it through...Enjoy.

This song is obviously about religion. As people have been saying, yes, this song is about people who waste their whole lives denying their natural urges to secure a spot in the afterlife, which may not even be there. The line that gives it away the most would be the last one. "You wasted life, why wouldn't you waste the afterlife?" He's basically saying...you were dumb enough to waste your whole mortal life holding yourself to a set of rules, why wouldn't you waste the life you may or may not have after death? As usual, Modest Mouse's message is loud, clear, and thought-provoking. *golf clap*

I've never seen the video but I originally thought that this song was about losing someone to suicide. It seems that the person may have drowned themselves to death (the ocean breathes salty). I picked up the religious undertones as well. A wasted life could possibly mean one that has ended too quickly. Also the fact that the person missed out on many of life's simple pleasures like watching the sunset. Or even missing out on the opportunity to grow old and die naturally. According to many religions suicide is the equivilant of murder..with a surefire ticket to hell. In the lyrics 'collected my belongings and I left the jail' he seems to be referring to his own mental awakening that he experienced as a result of the traumatic event (losing the loved one). Almost to imply that he now has a better appreciation for all of the things in life that he once took for granted.

"You tell me what you saw/And I'll tell you what you missed" is a great line... and this is a great song. Possibly the best on the album.
